What makes the blue Grand Feu enamel dial distinctive?
The blue dial is finished in Grand Feu enamel. Breguet describes the process on its product page: “Grand Feu enamelling consists in applying enamel and firing it at very high temperatures until a stable, luminous surface is obtained.” The brand adds: “This expertise demands exceptional mastery, as each firing can either reveal the dial or permanently compromise it.” These are Breguet’s descriptions of its craft, not claims of an independently assessed process for an individual watch.

The dial is paired with gold Breguet hollow-apple hands and a date display. Other Classique 5177 references may have different dial finishes or colors; the blue enamel identification belongs to reference 5177BB/2Y/9V6.
How large is it, and what does the case design offer?
The white-gold case measures 38 mm across and 8.8 mm thick, with a listed 20 mm lug width. Breguet describes the family’s fluted case band, lugs and transparent case back as characteristic details. The sapphire back exposes the automatic movement, while the restrained proportions and date complication keep the watch in a traditional dress-watch format.

The 20 mm lug-width figure alone does not establish that an arbitrary third-party strap will fit the watch’s attachment. Confirm compatibility with Breguet or a qualified watchmaker before buying a replacement strap.
How does caliber 777 Q operate, and how do you set the watch?
Breguet lists the automatic caliber 777 Q with 237 components, a 4 Hz frequency, a flat silicon balance spring and a 55-hour power reserve. The 5177/5178 family manual describes three crown positions: manual winding, quick date correction, and time setting with seconds stop.

- After the watch has stopped: the manual recommends 30 turns of the crown to restart it. It says a fully wound watch left unworn stops after 55 hours.
- To correct the date: use the quick-correction crown position. Do not make date corrections while the watch indicates a time between 20:00 and 01:00, as the manual cautions against it.
- To set the time: use the time-setting position, which stops the seconds according to the manual.

Is the blue Classique 5177 water-resistant?
Breguet lists the watch as water-resistant to 3 BAR. The family manual states: “This watch is guaranteed water-resistant to 3 bar (30 m), provided that the crown is in position 1.” The qualification matters: keep the crown in its normal position, and do not read the nominal 30 m figure as advice to swim, dive or undertake other water activities.
