The Breguet Classique Souscription 2025, reference 2025BH/28/9W6, brings the single-hand display and enamel-dial language of Breguet’s historical Souscription pocket watch to a modern wristwatch. Its one-hand layout is intentionally selective rather than conventional: it shows the hour, while a circular scale marks certain minute intervals. What is the Breguet Classique Souscription 2025?
Breguet unveiled the watch in Paris on 24 April 2025, the year it marked the House’s 250th anniversary. The company presents it as a wristwatch reinterpretation of the historic Souscription pocket watch, whose original was promoted through an advertising pamphlet more than two centuries ago. Breguet calls that predecessor “groundbreaking”; that characterization is the manufacturer’s framing, rather than an independent historical consensus. Breguet’s launch announcement describes the new model as a simplified architecture with a white enamel dial and one hand.
The continuity is clearest in the display, Breguet numerals, enamel, and secret signature. The modern execution adds a wristwatch case, sapphire crystals, and a manually wound VS00 movement. Those shared design elements make the “classics never truly age” idea a persuasive interpretation of Breguet’s presentation, not proof that this exact design has been used continuously or unchanged.
How does its single-hand dial work?
The watch is hour-only. Its open-tipped, flame-blued steel hand—described by Breguet as curved by hand—indicates the hour against slightly inclined Breguet Arabic numerals. A circular chemin de fer, or railroad-track, scale provides the reference: it marks the hours and selected 5-, 10-, 15-, and 30-minute intervals, rather than displaying every minute as a conventional minute hand would. The dial is white grand feu enamel, with the numerals, minute markers, and signature at 12 in black petit feu enamel. Breguet’s launch description details these dial elements.

In practical terms, this layout favors an uncluttered reading of the hour over precise minute-by-minute indication. The selected minute marks offer some additional orientation, but the watch is not designed to show the time with the granularity of a two-hand or three-hand dial.
A discreet signature detail
Breguet says the word “Souscription,” the unique serial number, and a secret signature sit between the dial’s center and 6 o’clock and become visible depending on the light. The company describes the signature as an authentication feature used on original Souscription watches to deter counterfeiting, engraved into enamel with a diamond-point pantograph. Case, materials, and movement specifications
The round case measures 40 mm across and 10.8 mm thick. It is made from 18K Breguet gold, with curved lugs and a satin-brushed case middle. Swatch Group says the alloy combines 75% gold with silver, copper, and palladium, giving it a warm, subtly pink hue. That is the manufacturer’s material description, not a claim based on independent metallurgical testing. Swatch Group’s archive entry provides the alloy and case details.
A sapphire caseback reveals the manually wound VS00 calibre. Breguet describes its gilded-brass movement and Quai de l’Horloge guilloché decoration as drawing on the structural typology of the first Souscription watches. The published figures are specifications, not independent performance results.

- The watch features a double-domed crystal and dial design, both with a convex surface, including the single convex hand, perfectly matching the dial's contours.
- The watch has a sandblasted stainless steel case, 40 mm in diameter and 15 mm thick (7 mm of which is the thickness of the domed crystal). A single hand indicates the hour and minute. The screw-down case back is engraved with a cityscape of St. Petersburg, Russia.

What should owners know about winding and setting?
The manual’s guidance is straightforward but specific. It recommends daily winding at the same time for optimal timekeeping; that is operating advice, not a guarantee of a particular accuracy result.

- Wind: Turn the crown fully until resistance is felt. Do not force it.
- Release the winding mechanism: After winding, turn the crown downward at least one-quarter turn.
- Set the time: Pull the crown to position X2 and turn it upward to advance the hand. For precise setting, the manual specifies that the final manipulation should be clockwise.
The watch is rated to 3 bar, rendered as 30 m in the manual. That rating should not be read as approval for swimming or diving. The manual also conditions the guarantee on the crown remaining in winding position X1. Consult Breguet’s manual for its full instructions.
