Its 44 mm case, openworked architecture and retrograde indicators make the mechanism unusually visible; its chronograph runs from a separate energy source and has a reported 20-minute reserve. Breguet’s current product page lists rose- and white-gold versions but gives no numeric price, directing buyers to a point of sale.
What the Tradition 7077 is—and which references to compare
The 7077 is a manually wound chronograph in Breguet’s Tradition collection. The rose-gold model featured on Breguet’s current product page is reference 7077BR/G1/9XV; the page also lists the 18K white-gold 7077BB/G1/9XV. The two documented versions share the same listed core specifications, so the principal stated distinction is case metal and reference.

The specifications and current price instruction are listed on Breguet’s product page. The independent mechanism and historical price figures discussed below were covered by Xavier Markl in Monochrome Watches’ review published December 27, 2018.
How the independent chronograph works
The central idea is two mechanisms sharing one watch case, rather than a chronograph simply drawing from the timekeeping train. Breguet describes the arrangement this way: “This watch features two completely independent gear trains, one for the hours and minutes, the other for the chronograph.” The manual-wind calibre 580DR has 420 components, and the manufacturer lists frequencies of 3 Hz and 5 Hz for the two trains.
#1 Best Overall
- 2nd time-zone sub-dial located at the 6 o'clock position
- AM/PM sub-dial indicator located at the 3 o'clock position
- Blue steel hands
- Hand engraved (engine-turned) guilloche silver dial
Separate power, separate indications
The timekeeping mechanism provides the hours and minutes and has the manufacturer-listed 55-hour power reserve. The chronograph has its own energy source and oscillator; Markl’s review describes a flexed blade spring in place of a conventional mainspring in a barrel. Resetting the chronograph flexes and arms that spring. The review reports a 20-minute chronograph reserve, so the 55-hour figure should not be read as the running time of the chronograph.
Reading the dial
- The central hand indicates chronograph seconds.
- The retrograde scale at 10 o’clock counts chronograph minutes up to 20.
- The retrograde indicator at 2 o’clock shows the timekeeping train’s power reserve.
- Breguet places the chronograph activation indicator at 6 o’clock.
This layout makes the two systems legible as distinct functions. The display and exposed mechanics are also central to the watch’s visual character, rather than hidden behind a conventional dial.
Rank #2
- 2nd time-zone sub-dial located at the 6 o'clock position
- AM/PM sub-dial indicator located at the 3 o'clock position
- Polished 18kt rose gold case
- Hand engraved (engine-turned) guilloche black dial
Case, dial and wearing considerations
Breguet lists a 44 mm diameter, 14.1 mm thickness and 23 mm lug width. Those measurements describe a substantial case on paper, but they do not establish how it will fit a particular wrist; no weight or wrist-fit comparison is stated in the cited sources.
The official specifications include a silvery, hand-guilloché dial, steel Breguet hollow-apple hands, an alligator strap, a three-blade deployant clasp and a sapphire caseback. The case is rated to 3 BAR water resistance and has a non-screwed crown. These are product specifications, not a recommendation to use the watch for swimming or other water activities.

Markl characterized the 7077 as visually antique yet technically modern, and described its construction as symmetrical, openworked and technically sophisticated. Those are the reviewer’s impressions from his 2018 hands-on article, not claims based on a new wear test here. The visible architecture and retrograde displays are the clearest reasons to consider it over a less mechanically expressive chronograph.

Breguet’s current product page does not publish a numeric recommended retail price; it asks prospective buyers to contact a point of sale. Request a quote from a Breguet boutique or point of sale in the country where you intend to buy, and confirm the currency, tax basis and availability directly. No current market-wide or regional price range is established by the cited material.
For historical context only, Monochrome Watches reported the following prices in its December 27, 2018 review:
| Version as reported in 2018 | Historical reported price |
|---|---|
| Pink/rose gold | CHF 77,000 — Monochrome Watches, 2018 |
| White gold | CHF 77,800 — Monochrome Watches, 2018 |
Those are dated figures, not present-day offers or current retail guidance. The review’s version descriptions and prices should not substitute for a current quote tied to the exact reference and buying location.
Who the 7077 is for
The 7077 is most compelling for a buyer drawn to visible mechanical construction and to the concept of a chronograph with its own independent energy system. The split between a 55-hour timekeeping reserve and a separately reported 20-minute chronograph reserve is essential to understanding what the watch does: it is not a conventional long-running stopwatch function. The choice between documented models is a choice of 18K rose gold or 18K white gold; the cited sources do not establish differences in weight, comfort, accuracy or performance between them.
Before deciding, compare the exact reference, inspect the dial and caseback in person if possible, and obtain a current local quote. The official 23 mm lug width may help when discussing strap options, but the cited material does not verify a specific replacement strap’s compatibility or equivalence.
