The Breguet Tradition Chronographe Indépendant 7077 is a hand-wound chronograph built around two independent gear trains: one keeps time, while the other runs the stopwatch. Breguet says the separate chronograph balance runs at 5 Hz for readings to one-tenth of a second, and a reset-armed blade spring powers timing for up to 20 minutes. The current Breguet listing specifies a 55-hour power reserve, though an independent reference lists 50 hours.
What is special about the Breguet 7077?
Its defining feature is the separation of timekeeping and chronograph functions. The watch uses calibre 580DR, a manually wound movement with independent gear trains and balances: the timekeeping balance runs at 3 Hz, and the chronograph balance at 5 Hz. Breguet says that faster chronograph beat supports readings to one-tenth of a second. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent timing-test results. Breguet’s product information describes the two-train arrangement.

The model belongs to Breguet’s Tradition collection, which the brand says draws inspiration from Abraham-Louis Breguet’s subscription and tact watches. The 2024 blue-dial announcement describes a hand-engraved Clous de Paris pattern as part of this version’s design. Breguet announced the blue-dial version on 6 November 2024.
How does the independent chronograph work?
Separate timing mechanism and stored energy
The chronograph has its own gear train and balance rather than borrowing the timekeeping train to run the stopwatch. Breguet says its chronograph energy is stored in a flexed blade spring when the reset function is activated. A non-concentric gear works with the spring to smooth torque. Breguet specifies a maximum timing interval of 20 minutes. These explanations describe the manufacturer’s design; they are not independent measurements of performance.

Using the pushers
Breguet’s manual instructs the wearer to unscrew both pushers fully before operating the chronograph. Pusher I starts timing. Pusher II stops it; pressing Pusher II again resets it, which also stores energy for the next measurement. The chronograph stops automatically after 20 minutes. The official 7077 manual also says to wind the watch daily at a consistent time until resistance, without forcing the crown.
Power reserve and key specifications
Breguet’s current listing gives the 7077 a 55-hour power reserve. An independent Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie reference page gives 50 hours, so the published figures differ; attribute the number to its source rather than treating the discrepancy as resolved. The FHH figure is not established as applying to every currently listed variant. Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie’s reference page is the independent cross-check.

Water resistance: what 3 BAR means here
Breguet rates the listed reference at 3 BAR. The manual says the 3 bar/30 m guarantee applies only with the crown in position 1 and both pushers screwed down. That is the manufacturer’s rating and stated condition; it does not establish suitability for swimming or diving.
