What makes the Red Arrows Chronomat different?
Breitling says the 160-piece edition marks its 30-year partnership with the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, and honors every pilot who has flown with the team since its inaugural 1965 season. The brand’s UK and Ireland product pages describe the dial as RAF blue, with the Red Arrows Diamond Nine logo at 12 o’clock. A sapphire caseback displays the Royal Air Force insignia in color. These details distinguish reference AB01347A1C1A1 from standard Chronomat B01 42 references. Breitling’s UK product page and Irish product page list the edition as 160 pieces; neither page gives a publication date for that statement.
Breitling says, “The Chronomat holds a significant place in Breitling’s history.” That is the manufacturer’s characterization of the collection, not an independent assessment.
How big is the Breitling Chronomat B01 42?
The stainless-steel case measures 42 mm in diameter, 15.1 mm thick, with a 22 mm lug width. The Rouleaux bracelet is stainless steel; Breitling lists its lug dimensions as 22/20 mm. Those figures describe the watch, but they cannot establish how it will sit or feel on a particular wrist. Try it on if fit, thickness or bracelet comfort is decisive.

Movement and chronograph specifications
Breitling equips the watch with its self-winding Breitling 01 Manufacture movement, also known as Caliber 01. The manufacturer lists approximately 70 hours of power reserve, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and 47 jewels, and describes the caliber as COSC-certified. The chronograph measures to one quarter-second and has 30-minute and 12-hour totalizers.
Case, crystal and water resistance
- Caseback: screwed-in sapphire crystal, with the Royal Air Force insignia displayed in color.
- Crystal: cambered sapphire, glareproofed on both sides.
- Bezel: unidirectional and ratcheted.
- Crown: screw-locked, with two gaskets.
- Water resistance: 20 bar (200 m/660 ft), as specified by Breitling.
The rating is a manufacturer specification; it does not substitute for checking the condition of a particular watch or its seals, especially if buying pre-owned.

Breitling’s UK product page displayed a price of GBP 8,050 including VAT when accessed for this article. That is a regional, time-sensitive listing, not a universal or guaranteed current price. Check the product page or a local authorized retailer for the price and availability in your market. Breitling lists a five-year international warranty and says it can be extended by up to three years through online registration; confirm the current registration terms and eligibility in your region.
The stated 160-piece limit identifies the edition size, but the official pages cited above do not establish how many remain available or whether stock exists in a particular country. They also do not establish secondary-market prices.

What to check when comparing it with another Chronomat B01 42
Do not rely on the collection name alone: confirm the full reference and compare the details that affect identity and use.
- Reference and edition: look for AB01347A1C1A1 and verify that the listing explicitly identifies the Red Arrows edition.
- Dial and caseback: check for the RAF-blue dial and Diamond Nine logo at 12 o’clock, plus the colored RAF insignia on the sapphire back.
- Build and dimensions: compare material, case dimensions, bracelet or strap, and lug dimensions.
