How do references and configurations differ?
A different current-generation listing, PB0158101C1S1, shows why it is important to check the exact reference. Breitling specifies that model with a steel-and-platinum case, 13.77 mm thickness, 20.05 mm lug width and black rubber strap; it is also 42 mm in diameter, water-resistant to 200 m and has an approximately 70-hour reserve. The contrast with the steel-bracelet AB0134101L1A1 is evidence of variation within the family, not a complete catalogue of every generation or reference. Breitling’s collection copy names black, blue, silver and copper dial options and pairs the B01 42 with the Rouleaux bracelet. Availability can vary by reference and market; the collection-level color description should not be taken to mean every dial color is offered on every case or strap combination.
What is the Caliber 01 movement?
Breitling identifies Manufacture Caliber 01 as a self-winding mechanical chronograph and describes it as COSC-certified. For AB0134101L1A1, the company lists an approximately 70-hour power reserve, 28,800 vibrations per hour and 47 jewels. Its chronograph records to a quarter-second and includes 30-minute and 12-hour totalizers. Those are published movement specifications; the cited material does not establish independent performance testing of an individual watch.

How should you compare Chronomat B01 42 models?
Start with the full reference number and generation, then compare the details that affect appearance, fit and ownership:
- Case material and thickness: steel and steel-and-platinum examples are listed, and thickness varies between the cited references.
- Bracelet or strap: the Rouleaux steel bracelet and rubber-strap versions are distinct configurations.
- Lug width: the cited examples list 22 mm and 20.05 mm, respectively; do not assume the same strap dimensions across references.
- Dial and bezel: check the precise dial color and bezel treatment on the specific listing rather than relying on the range-level description.
- Water resistance and warranty: confirm both on the regional product page for the reference you are considering.
