Its distinguishing details are a red-and-white Snowbirds logo on the dial and an emblem engraved on the caseback. Those details come from a 2021 Fratello Watches account, not a specific model record on Breitling’s official history page.
What is the Old Navitimer “Snowbirds” Limited Edition?
Fratello Watches identifies the watch as the 1995 Old Navitimer “Snowbirds” Limited Edition, reference A13022, and reports that 1,000 were made. The article describes the Snowbirds aerobatic team’s red-and-white logo at 3 o’clock and an emblem engraved on the solid caseback. These are specialist-source claims; Breitling’s history page covers the Old Navitimer’s broader lineage but does not list an A13022 model record.
The edition’s visual idea is straightforward: the familiar, information-dense Navitimer pilot-instrument dial is paired with markings associated with the Canadian aerobatic team. Fratello’s article focuses on one example, so its observations should not be assumed to describe every surviving watch or its contents.

How it fits into Navitimer history
Breitling says it launched the Old Navitimer in 1986 as a reinterpretation of the original Navitimer design developed in 1952, equipped with an automatic Valjoux movement. The brand’s overview provides context for the model family, not confirmation of the Snowbirds edition’s individual specifications or production total. See Breitling’s Instruments for Professionals history.

The 1995 date also belongs to a separate Breitling milestone: the brand says the Emergency’s antenna deployment system was introduced that year. That event is not the same as the Snowbirds edition, which Fratello identifies as a limited Old Navitimer.
What to check when considering an example
The available reporting does not establish a definitive authentication checklist. For an individual watch, treat the reference and edition markings as starting points, then assess the whole example and its documentation.

- Power reserve of over 70 hours.
- From the New 2018 Colllection
- Compare the reference and serial information on the watch with any accompanying paperwork and the seller’s description.
- Inspect the dial logo and caseback engraving, alongside the condition of the dial, case, crystal and movement.
- Ask for service records and a clear account of known repairs or replaced parts.
- Check whether box and papers are included. Fratello’s example had them, but that does not establish that all examples do.
- Request an evaluation of the specific watch from a qualified independent watchmaker or specialist before relying on a seller’s description.
Breitling’s Extract from the Archives service is described for watches dating from 1946 to 1979, so this 1995 watch falls outside that stated eligibility range. Breitling also says an extract is not a certificate of authenticity, warranty, proof of ownership or confirmation of present condition. Details are on Breitling’s archive service page.

Fratello mentioned a €3,950 listing in its 2021 article. That is a historical listing price, not a current asking price or valuation. Current availability, asking prices and recent sale comparables have not been established here.

The article discusses its example on a leather strap and suggests a NATO strap as an alternative, but it does not state the lug width or confirm compatibility for every watch. Measure the watch and verify strap and hardware fit before ordering a replacement.
