Breitling introduced its foldable, reusable watch packaging in 2020. The company says the compact box is made from upcycled plastic bottles and reduces the average distance a box travels by almost 30%. A separate Breitling report later described an almost 90% reduction in environmental impact on a materials basis; that figure has a different scope and should not be read as a total-emissions reduction.
What changed in Breitling’s watch packaging?
Breitling describes the package as a smaller, foldable and reusable alternative to a conventional watch box. The brand says it is made from “100% upcycled plastic bottles.” That describes the stated feedstock; it does not establish that every component is made from recycled material.
The design is intended to take up less space than a traditional presentation box. The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry reported that the cushion can also be used as a travel pouch, giving the packaging a use beyond presenting the watch.
Breitling calls it the “first eco-friendly, foldable and reusable watch box.” That “first” description is the company’s claim, not an independently established ranking. Breitling’s packaging page describes the design and its stated materials.

When did Breitling introduce the box?
The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry reported on November 19, 2020, that Breitling presented the case at the end of October 2020. The announcement is therefore a 2020 packaging change, not a newly verified 2026 launch. The Federation’s report also noted that classic boxes were available on request at that time; that historical detail does not establish Breitling’s current policy.
What environmental benefits does Breitling claim?
Breitling’s packaging page says the smaller format reduces the average distance a box travels by almost 30%. This is the company’s stated travel-distance claim, not an independently measured result presented by the sources cited here. Breitling’s page does not provide a calculation method or quantified comparison with a named conventional box.

In its 2025 sustainability report, Breitling separately describes an almost 90% reduction in environmental impact “on a materials basis.” The report associates this with the smaller upcycled-plastic-bottle box and a logistics-management change. This materials-basis figure is not interchangeable with the almost-30% average-distance claim, and neither figure establishes an equivalent reduction in total emissions or overall lifecycle impact.
The sources cited here do not provide a third-party comparative lifecycle assessment or enough methodological detail to independently validate either figure. Breitling’s ESG policy says the company applies a hierarchy of avoiding, reducing and recycling packaging materials, and considers recycled materials where feasible. Can you buy the Breitling box separately?
The available sources describe the item as watch packaging and do not establish that Breitling currently sells it as a standalone product. The 2020 report’s mention of classic boxes being available on request is historical, not confirmation of present-day availability.
