It is a capable, layered travel watch on paper. It is also large, thick and visually busy. Bremont now lists it as officially retired, so it is a pre-owned or old-stock purchase rather than something to order new. This review is based on Bremont’s published specifications and guidance. It is not a hands-on test, and nothing here comes from timed accuracy runs or wear trials.

How the world-time function works
The ALT1-WT combines two separate time displays. A rotating internal ring carries the city names, and an adjustable 24-hour hand points to a time on a 24-hour scale. Bremont also says the 24-hour hand can show UTC, or “Zulu” time.
Bremont’s customer-service FAQ says: “The World Timer function on the ALT1-WT can be operated using the crown at the 8 o’clock position.” Its instruction for selecting a zone is: “Simply turn the 8 o’clock crown clockwise or anticlockwise depending on the time zone that you wish to select.”

Reading a city in practice
- Use the crown at 8 o’clock to turn the internal ring.
- Bring the city you want, Bremont’s example being Tokyo, to the 12 o’clock position.
- Read that city’s time against the GMT (24-hour) hand.
The practical consequence is that you read local time for a selected city from a 24-hour scale. You do not read it from the main hour hand. That is useful for checking a distant office or a flight’s destination, but it takes a moment of interpretation. It is slower than a plain second-time-zone hand. Bremont’s published material does not say whether the ring and the 24-hour hand are coupled or independent, so check that on any specific watch before relying on it.
Origins
In a 2016 article, Bremont says it received a commission in 2010 to produce a global timer for a military C-17 Globemaster crew, and then developed a civilian World Timer from it. This is the brand’s own account and has not been independently confirmed. It explains the watch’s UTC/Zulu emphasis and its cockpit-instrument styling.

Self-winding mechanical movement harnesses kinetic energy from wrist motion—no battery required—no manual winding needed—for effortless precision
- 💎 Premium Durability & Comfort -- Combines a 55mm stainless steel case, scratch-resistant crystal glass (anti-glare), and a supple leather strap; the butterfly clasp design can reduce wear and tear on the leather strap, eliminating the need to bend and fold the strap as much as with other buckle types. Built for daily elegance, from office meetings to formal events
- 🔧 Exquisite Skeleton Design -- Showcases intricate mechanical artistry through a transparent dial, revealing the automatic rotor and gears. The bold 55mm size and globe dial design ensure readability, blending fine watchmaking craftsmanship with modern functionality
- 🏊 50M Waterproof & Travel-Ready -- Engineered for sports enthusiasts, it can withstand splashes or brief immersion in water. With a reinforced seal to protect the movement, investing in this high-quality, water-resistant watch is a smart choice if you're looking for a watch that matches your active lifestyle
- 【✨ Caring for Your Mechanical Watch】Please be mindful when engaging in sports or activities with strong, repetitive arm movements (like swinging a racket or hammering or strenuous labor). These motions generate extreme G-force that can overspeed the balance wheel, affecting the watch's accuracy and lifespan. For intense physical activities, we suggest simply taking the watch off to protect its inner workings—it only takes a second and ensures your timepiece stays in top condition
Size and dial: where the layered design costs you
A 43 mm diameter, 16 mm thickness and 22 mm lugs make this a substantial watch. The thickness is the figure to weigh, since a chronograph movement plus a world-time mechanism adds height. Whether that is comfortable depends on your wrist and your sleeves, and Bremont’s figures cannot tell you that. Try one on if you can.
The dial also carries a lot. It has three chronograph counters, a date, a city ring and a 24-hour hand. Bremont’s materials do not include a legibility assessment, and none was independently tested. Expect a dial that rewards familiarity rather than glanceability. If you rarely use the chronograph, or rarely travel across time zones, you are paying in bulk and clutter for functions you will not use.

Strengths and trade-offs
- For: automatic chronograph, world time and UTC in one watch; chronometer rating claimed to ISO 3159; sapphire crystal; 100 m water resistance; DLC-treated case barrel; a documented aviation-derived backstory.
- Against: large and thick; busy dial; a 42-hour power reserve that is modest if you rotate watches; no longer made.
Buying a retired ALT1-WT
Bremont’s current Australian product page says the ALT1-WT has retired from its catalogue. Availability is therefore a question of individual listings. A retailer page for the ALT1-WT/BK showed as out of stock when indexed. That is a snapshot only, not evidence of the wider market, and no systematic sales data was gathered, so no price is quoted here.
Checks before you pay
- Confirm the exact dial and strap or bracelet variant against the listing’s photos and reference number.
- Ask for service history and whether box and papers are included.
- Check that the strap or bracelet fits properly. Bremont lists a 22 mm lug width, but end fittings and original-part availability should be confirmed rather than assumed.
- Have the seller demonstrate the chronograph start, stop and reset, and the 8 o’clock crown turning the city ring.
- Read the return terms.
These are sensible precautions, not known defects of this model.

What to compare it with
I did not examine specific rivals closely enough to rank them. Judge alternatives on these points:
- A full city ring versus a simpler GMT or UTC hand: more destinations, but a more involved setup and read-out.
- Whether you will really use both the chronograph and the travel functions, given how crowded the dial gets.
- Case diameter and thickness relative to your wrist.
- Strap or bracelet options and how easy replacements are to source.
- Condition, paperwork and price of the particular used watch.
The Bottom Line
The ALT1-WT suits someone who wants a chronograph, UTC and a city-ring world timer in one aviation-flavoured case, and who accepts 43 mm by 16 mm and a crowded dial. If you want simple second-time-zone reading or a slimmer watch, look elsewhere. Because Bremont has retired it, buy only a listing that matches the exact variant and comes with clear condition, service and return details.
