The Bulgari Octo Finissimo Sketch 140th Anniversary is the steel Octo Finissimo Automatic reference 104163, a 40 mm limited edition of 280 pieces. Its dial reproduces a drawing of the watch’s movement; it is distinct from the rose-gold 104165 and from Bulgari’s earlier 2022 Sketch models.
What is the Octo Finissimo Sketch 140th Anniversary?
Reference 104163 is Bulgari’s steel Octo Finissimo Automatic created for the house’s 140th anniversary. Bulgari describes its satin-vertical brass-rhodium dial as replicating a sketch of the movement inside the watch. The edition is limited to 280 worldwide, according to Bulgari’s official product page and its Japan launch announcement.
The anniversary marking “EDIZIONE LIMITATA” and “1884 – 2024” appears on the open sapphire caseback, according to Bulgari Japan’s announcement. The caseback also gives a view of the movement.
How the Sketch dial differs from the 2022 models
The 2024 design uses a drawing of the movement itself on the dial. WatchTime credits the artwork to Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Bulgari’s Product Creation Executive Director, and notes that the dial leaves out markers to give the drawing space. Fratello explains that the illustration shows the movement from the rear—the same side visible through the exhibition caseback.

That is different from the 2022 Octo Finissimo Sketch models, which rendered familiar dial elements such as markers, a subdial, numerals and the wordmark in sketch style, as Fratello describes. The 2024 edition instead presents a movement illustration as its central dial artwork.

How it compares with the rose-gold anniversary edition
Bulgari also announced a rose-gold version, reference 104165. It shares the anniversary Sketch concept but differs in material, edition size and historical Japanese launch price.

The Japanese figures are historical launch prices, not current quotations. Bulgari’s international product page displays €17,800 including taxes for 104163; that is a regional page price observed on 2026-10-08 and may change. These prices reflect different markets and dates, so they are not direct like-for-like comparisons.
Is the dial practical to read?
The design gives priority to the movement drawing, and WatchTime notes that markers are omitted to make room for the artwork. If quick, conventional dial reading is your first priority, this is a meaningful trade-off to consider. If the visible drawing and its relationship to the movement are the attraction, the dial offers an artistic alternative to a conventional or skeletonized presentation. That is a design preference, not a measured performance claim.
