The Bulgari Octo Ultranero appears in official Bulgari brochures as two distinct watches: the Solotempo, with automatic time and date, and the Velocissimo, with an automatic chronograph. Both are described as 41 mm black-DLC-treated steel models with integrated rubber straps and 100 m water resistance. These are specifications from Bulgari’s 2016 and 2017 brochure editions—not confirmation that the Ultranero is currently sold.
What is the Bulgari Octo Ultranero?
Octo is Bulgari’s angular watch collection. Bulgari describes its case shape as “neither round nor square” and connects the eight-sided geometry to Rome’s architectural landmarks (Bulgari Octo collection). The Ultranero applies a dark finish to the steel case; its name means “ultra black.”

The official brochures reviewed identify two principal Ultranero variants, distinguished chiefly by their movements and functions. The Solotempo is a time-and-date watch; the Velocissimo adds a chronograph.
Octo Ultranero Solotempo vs. Velocissimo
| Variant | Movement and function | Case and finish | Other brochure specifications |
|---|---|---|---|
| Octo Ultranero Solotempo | Automatic manufacture movement BVL 193; time and date | 41 mm steel case with black DLC treatment; 18 kt pink-gold bezel and ceramic-set crown | Double barrel; 50-hour power reserve; integrated rubber strap; water resistance to 100 m |
| Octo Ultranero Velocissimo | Automatic BVL 328 chronograph; column wheel; 5 Hz | 41 mm steel case with black DLC treatment; ceramic-set crown | Silicon escapement; 50-hour power reserve; integrated rubber strap; water resistance to 100 m |
Every measurement and movement detail in the table is a manufacturer-published specification in Bulgari’s 2016 and 2017 brochure editions, not an independent test result. The brochures describe the Solotempo’s bezel as pink gold and its crown as ceramic-set; the chronograph’s crown is also described as ceramic-set. They do not establish independent reliability statistics or performance comparisons.

What the reference numbers mean
Reference formatting varies between the official brochure editions. Bulgari’s 2016 brochure lists the Solotempo as BGO41BBSPGVD and the Velocissimo as BGO41BBSVDCH. The 2017 brochure lists the corresponding models as BG041BBSPGVD and BG041BBSDCH. Do not assume the differently formatted strings are interchangeable: match the reference on the watch with its paperwork and seller documentation.

Current Bulgari Octo collection pages reviewed feature Octo Finissimo and Octo Roma models, but do not establish current Ultranero inventory or pricing (Bulgari Octo collection). Current retail stock, resale availability, and price therefore remain unverified. Check with Bulgari or a seller for the exact variant and reference before making a purchase; no confirmed listing or price is established here.
Quick Recap
What to check before buying or maintaining one
- Identify the variant: confirm whether the watch is the time-and-date Solotempo or the chronograph Velocissimo, then compare the reference with the relevant brochure format and the watch’s documentation.
- Check the physical details: compare the case, bezel, crown, dial, and strap with the claimed variant. Ask for clear photographs and documentation rather than relying on a reference string alone.
- Confirm strap compatibility: the brochures describe an integrated rubber strap but do not give a replacement part number or aftermarket fit list. Ask Bulgari or a qualified watchmaker to verify a replacement before ordering.
- Ask about service directly: the cited brochures do not state a service interval or name a service provider, so obtain guidance for the particular watch from Bulgari or a qualified watchmaker.
