They differ in size, water-resistance ratings, movement design and edition limits, so the useful choice depends on what you want from a chronograph—not a single ranking.
This is a look at the releases selected by Robin Nooy for Monochrome Watches on 6 October 2024, not a current market survey or comparative test. Nooy captured the problem neatly: “With a proverbial onslaught of watches presented during a year, it’s no wonder some get overlooked!” Read the guide at Monochrome Watches.
How the six watches differ
The measurements and launch-era prices below are those reported in Monochrome Watches’ 2024 guide. Water resistance is a published specification, not independent dive-test evidence. The prices are historical and use mixed currencies; they are not current quotes. The guide’s Blancpain price is inconsistent, so its figure is shown as a conflict rather than resolved by guesswork.

Which one fits your priorities?
For a compact, distinctive case: TAG Heuer Monaco
The square 39 mm case, left-side crown, green-and-silver dial treatment and yellow accents make this Monaco visually distinct from the round watches in the group. Its titanium construction and 100 m published water resistance add everyday practicality, while its 40-hour reserve is shorter than the SeaQ’s, Oris’s and Seiko’s stated figures. The 2024 guide reports a 1,000-piece limit.

TAG Heuer’s US product page identifies reference CAW218E.FC6565 and lists a 39 mm titanium case, 15 mm thickness, 22 mm lug distance, Calibre 11, 40-hour reserve and 100 m water resistance. At the time the page was observed in 2026, it listed $9,650 and “Out of stock online”; that is a US page snapshot, not a statement about stock elsewhere. Check the TAG Heuer US product page.
For a high-specification flyback: Glashütte Original SeaQ Chronograph
The SeaQ combines the highest stated water-resistance figure in this group—300 m—with an in-house flyback movement and a 70-hour reserve. Its 43.2 mm diameter and 16.95 mm thickness make it one of the larger, thicker choices, so the specifications do not by themselves establish how it will sit on an individual wrist. The 2024 price range varies by strap, clasp or bracelet setup.

For a water-oriented sports chronograph: Oris Aquis
The Aquis also carries a stated 300 m rating, with a ceramic-insert bezel, blue gradient dial and redesigned bracelet. Its 43.5 mm steel case is slightly larger than the SeaQ’s, and it uses calibre 773 based on Sellita SW510 rather than the SeaQ’s in-house flyback calibre. Oris gives it a 62-hour reserve in the 2024 guide.
For an integrated titanium bracelet: Maurice Lacroix Aikon
The Aikon pairs a 44 mm titanium case with an integrated bracelet and 200 m stated water resistance. The guide describes purple and champagne-gold dial versions with contrasting subdials. Its Sellita SW500-derived ML112 has a 48-hour reserve. A current Maurice Lacroix Spain listing identifies reference AI6038-TT032-530-1 at €4,350 including VAT; this is a regional listing and does not establish the price or availability of both dial versions in other markets. For a column-wheel and vertical-clutch movement at the lowest guide-era price: Seiko Speedtimer
The SRQ051 and SRQ053 offer the group’s lowest listed 2024 guide price, EUR 2,700 for the pair, and share calibre 8R48. The guide specifies a column wheel and vertical clutch, a 45-hour reserve, sapphire crystal and 100 m water resistance. The two references are differentiated by blue and black dials. Confirm the exact reference and regional availability before purchase; the guide’s price is not a current quote.
For a limited green flyback with a high-beat movement: Blancpain Air Command
The Air Command is 42.5 mm across and 13.7 mm thick, with a titanium case, green dial, bidirectional ceramic-insert bezel and F388B flyback calibre running at 5 Hz. Its 50-hour reserve and 30 m stated water resistance distinguish it from the more water-oriented sports models here. Monochrome’s guide reports a 200-piece edition, but gives two conflicting prices: CHF 21,200 in the article prose and CHF 20,100 in the quick facts.

Blancpain’s US pages list green-dial titanium variants AC02 12B53 63A and 63B, both with F388B and a 50-hour reserve. The observed US prices are $25,900 for the pin-buckle version and $26,600 for the folding-clasp version; Blancpain notes that prices may vary by clasp. - Fit: Compare case diameter and thickness, but also look for lug distance and the shape of the case. The Monaco’s square 39 mm profile will wear differently from a round 43–44 mm watch; actual fit depends on the wearer and wrist.
- Movement function: Flyback appears on the SeaQ and Air Command descriptions; the Seiko’s column wheel and vertical clutch are specified in the guide. These are movement features, not evidence of comparative accuracy or long-term reliability.
- Water use: Use the published ratings as specifications, not as a substitute for checking crown and case condition, maintenance, or the manufacturer’s instructions. The Air Command’s 30 m rating is notably lower than the SeaQ and Aquis ratings.
- Exact variant: Confirm the reference, dial, clasp, strap or bracelet and market. A price attached to one configuration should not be assumed to apply to another.
- Availability and price: The 2024 guide’s CHF and EUR prices are historical. Current official listings located for this selection cover TAG Heuer, Blancpain and one Maurice Lacroix Spain reference; they do not establish current prices or stock for every watch or market.
