Yes, but only as a supplementary estimate—not as a dependable substitute for a blood-pressure cuff or a tool for medical decisions. Samsung Health Monitor requires calibration with an upper-arm cuff, which must be repeated every 28 days. Samsung says the feature is not intended to diagnose or treat disease. Availability also depends on your watch, phone, and region.
What the Watch4 reading can—and cannot—tell you
The Galaxy Watch4 estimates blood pressure using Samsung Health Monitor after the watch has been calibrated against an upper-arm cuff. Samsung publishes performance figures for the feature, but those figures do not guarantee that an individual watch reading will match a cuff reading. The watch is most appropriate for supplementary tracking when the feature is available and set up correctly.
Samsung’s official product announcement says the feature “is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions, or in the cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of disease.” Do not use it by itself to diagnose hypertension, change medication, or decide whether urgent care is needed. The FDA advises people whose medical care depends on accurate readings to consult a health-care provider about an appropriate FDA-authorized device: FDA blood-pressure device safety communication.
What Samsung’s published performance figures mean
Samsung’s EU safety and performance document, dated December 2024, reports a mean difference ± standard deviation below 5 ± 8 mmHg with auscultatory calibration and below 6 ± 10 mmHg with cuff-monitor calibration, for up to 28 days. These are the document’s stated performance metrics for the feature’s intended non-diagnostic use—not a promise that every reading will be within those margins or a universal accuracy guarantee. The document is available in Samsung’s EU safety and performance instructions.

How calibration works
You need a third-party upper-arm blood-pressure cuff to calibrate the watch; the cuff is sold separately. Samsung’s U.S. instructions call for three cuff measurements within a 30-minute period during setup, followed by recalibration every 28 days. The watch’s estimate is therefore tied to a calibration that must be renewed, rather than being a cuff-free measurement. See Samsung’s setup and measurement instructions and its Samsung Health Monitor page.
- Confirm that Samsung Health Monitor and blood-pressure monitoring are available for your watch, phone, and region.
- Use a third-party upper-arm cuff to take three blood-pressure measurements within 30 minutes, following the app’s calibration flow.
- Repeat calibration every 28 days. If the watch prompts you to recalibrate, follow the prompt before relying on new estimates.
How to take a more consistent watch measurement
Measurement conditions matter. Samsung advises avoiding smoking, bathing, exercise, alcohol, and caffeine for at least 30 minutes beforehand. Measure indoors in a quiet place with a dry wrist, and wear the watch snugly on the same wrist each time.

- Rotating Bezel Navigation: Physical rotating bezel allows precise and intuitive control of apps and menus.
- Sit quietly for five minutes with your back supported, legs uncrossed, and feet flat on the floor.
- Rest your forearms on a table and keep still during the measurement.
- Follow the Samsung Health Monitor prompts, keeping the watch snug on the wrist used consistently for readings.
These steps can make measurements more consistent, but they do not turn the watch into a diagnostic instrument.
Does every Galaxy Watch4 support blood-pressure monitoring?
Owning a Watch4 alone does not guarantee access. Samsung’s U.S. announcement says the phased rollout began March 31, 2026, and lists Galaxy Watch4 and later models, excluding Galaxy Fit, with Wear OS 4.0 or later and an Android 12 or later phone. Samsung also says availability varies by country or region. Check the current Samsung Health Monitor availability for your market and device rather than assuming the feature is enabled where you live. See Samsung’s U.S. availability announcement and the original Galaxy Watch4 announcement.

Watch estimate vs. upper-arm cuff
| Consideration | Galaxy Watch4 | Upper-arm cuff monitor |
|---|---|---|
| Role | Supplementary estimate; Samsung says it is not intended for diagnosis or treatment. | Use a suitable device and professional guidance for readings that inform medical care; the FDA recommends discussing an appropriate FDA-authorized device with a health-care provider when care depends on accurate readings. |
| Calibration | Requires three cuff readings within 30 minutes initially and recalibration every 28 days, according to Samsung’s U.S. instructions. | Required to calibrate the watch; Samsung’s cited instructions do not specify a particular cuff brand or model. |
| Availability | Depends on watch model, Wear OS version, Android phone version, and region. | Samsung requires an upper-arm cuff for calibration; the cited sources do not establish compatibility for particular brands or models. |
When to rely on another device
If a reading may affect diagnosis, medication, or treatment, use a suitable cuff monitor and discuss results with a health-care professional. Samsung’s EU safety document says not to interpret the watch measurements or take clinical action without consulting a qualified health professional and validating measurements using a standard method. The FDA likewise recommends asking a provider about an appropriate FDA-authorized device when medical care depends on accuracy.
