ELTON hodinářská’s PRIM manufacture is at Náchodská 2105 in Nové Město nad Metují, but its address and boutique listing do not confirm that production areas are open to visitors. Public access has been advertised for specific open days, yet no standing tour or 2026 schedule is established. For a dependable watch-history visit, the town’s Municipal Museum has a permanent PRIM exhibition; it is separate from the operating factory.
Can you visit the PRIM factory?
Not on the basis of a regular public tour that can currently be confirmed. The town has published notices for particular ELTON open days, including an event advertised for 6 September 2025, but that dated announcement does not establish a recurring schedule or access in 2026. No current tour booking method, frequency, capacity, age limit, language, price, or visitor safety terms are established.
Before making a trip specifically to see production, contact ELTON through its official contact page and ask whether factory access is available on your intended date and what arrangements apply. The contact page lists both the manufacture and a PRIM boutique at the same address; a boutique listing is not evidence that the production floor is open to walk-ins.

What can you see if the factory is closed?
The Municipal Museum in Nové Město nad Metují has a permanent exhibition devoted to PRIM watches and clocks. The museum describes more than 120 objects in the collection, including Spartak prototypes, a late-1960s Diplomat, Aeskulap watches, PRIM Sport, and clocks used in Škoda RTO buses. It calls this the only permanent PRIM watch-and-clock exhibition in the Czech Republic. Check the museum’s current opening hours and admission details on its PRIM exhibition page before visiting.
The exhibition presents the history and objects of local watchmaking; it is not a guided tour of the operating manufacture. That makes it the more supportable visit to plan around when factory access has not been confirmed.

Why is PRIM watchmaking associated with Nové Město nad Metují?
Watch production in the town dates to 1949. The National Technical Museum describes the SPARTAK prototype as the first Czechoslovak wristwatch and says it entered industrial production in Nové Město nad Metují under the PRIM name. It also reports that Czechoslovakia became the world’s eighth country capable of industrial-scale mechanical wristwatch production. The museum’s history of the first Czechoslovak wristwatches provides further context.
ELTON’s own manufacturing profile describes small-series mechanical watches, production largely at its own premises, and certified professional renovation of historical PRIM models. VisitCzechRepublic also reports that the company makes wall clocks, barometers, and other devices. These descriptions concern the manufacturer’s work; they do not establish that every product carrying the PRIM name is made at this site. For a particular watch, check the model’s current specifications rather than assuming its production location.

- For factory access: use ELTON’s official contact page to ask about your date and the conditions for entering the manufacture. Do not assume that the boutique or factory address means walk-in access.
- For the museum: check the Municipal Museum’s PRIM exhibition page for current visit details before setting out.
- Choose based on what you want to see: the museum is for historical watches and clocks; active production can only be part of a factory visit if ELTON confirms access.
