The available sources document its design and specifications, but not hands-on wear or performance testing.
What is the Cartier Crocodile Jewelry Métiers d’Art watch?
Cartier identifies reference HPI01612 on its Canada product page as the “Crocodile Jewelry Métiers d’art enamel watch.” The Maison’s Métiers d’Art overview labels a “Crocodile Jewelry Watch – 2024” as an enamel example. The two descriptions point to the crocodile watch presented in the Cartier listing, rather than establishing two different models. Cartier Canada’s product page is the source for the reference and item details; Cartier’s Métiers d’Art overview supplies the 2024 craft context.
How the crocodile design uses enamel and jewelry
The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) describes a sculptural crocodile with an emerald eye and says the métiers d’art treatment recreates the animal’s curves and spiked scales. Cartier classifies the watch under enamel, part of what it calls the “art of fire.” The result is a watch conceived around an animal motif rather than a conventional dial with a crocodile image applied as an accessory detail.
Cartier says its Maison des Métiers d’Art was established in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, in 2014. Its craft overview groups work into three families: the art of fire, including enamel; the art of metal, including granulation and filigree; and the art of composition, including marquetry. Cartier describes the Maison’s purpose as preserving traditional crafts while connecting them to watchmaking and jewelry. The overview identifies this watch as an enamel example but does not name the specific enamel technique used on this model, so it should not be described as cloisonné, champlevé, grisaille or another particular process.

Materials and published gem details
Cartier’s Canada listing describes a rhodiumized 18K white-gold case with a graduated blue enamel motif, emerald eyes and a blue alligator leather strap. It also lists a royal-blue calfskin strap as an additional strap. Cartier itemizes the stones as follows; these are the figures on its product page, which does not show a publication date and was accessed in 2026.
- 341 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling 3.05 carats on the dial and crocodile
- 53 brilliant-cut sapphires totaling 0.54 carats
- 22 mother-of-pearls
- Cabochon emerald eyes totaling 0.05 carats
FHH gives a different aggregate description: 9.8 carats of tourmalines, sapphires, emeralds and brilliant-cut diamonds across the case, dial and bracelet. Its page was accessed in 2026 and does not show a publication year. The publishers’ figures describe the watch differently; they should be read as separate source-specific accounts, not added together or treated as a reconciled total.

Movement, display and dimensions
Cartier lists a quartz movement. FHH specifies hours and minutes, a round case and a thickness of 12.7 mm. Cartier also gives the 12.7 mm thickness. Its Canada page states water resistance up to 3 bar, approximately 30 meters or 100 feet; FHH lists 30 meters. That rating is a specification, not evidence of suitability for swimming or other water activities.
Canada price and online availability
When captured, Cartier’s Canada product page displayed a price of C$224,000 and the status “Unavailable online.” Those are Canada-specific page observations, not a current global price or a guarantee of boutique availability.
