What changed at Cartier’s Melbourne flagship?
The boutique at 90 Collins Street was redesigned and expanded across two floors, according to Time+Tide Watches. ELLE Australia reported that the project was 11 months in the making; that is the reported project duration, not a verified construction schedule or exact interval before reopening.
Cartier describes the interiors as a blend of Art Deco architecture and botanical references to Victorian gardens. The design also draws on Australian nature and Melbourne’s character, placing the Maison’s established visual language in a local setting. Cartier presents the boutique as a showcase for its jewellery and watch creations.
What is the artwork inside the renovated Cartier store?
On the second floor, a glass marquetry mural depicts Cartier’s panther among native flowers. Time+Tide identifies the artist as Myriam Hubert; ELLE also describes a bespoke glass marquetry panel with the panther nestled among native flora. The artwork gives the broader local design theme a specific focal point.

How does the boutique reflect Melbourne?
Cartier Oceania Managing Director Thomas Crye described the project as a celebration of the Maison’s connection with the city: “This boutique is a celebration of Cartier’s bond with Melbourne — a city of creativity, diversity, and dynamic energy. We are proud to offer an immersive experience that honours both our Maison’s heritage and the beauty of the Australian landscape.” The quotation appeared in ELLE’s coverage and reflects Cartier’s own account of the design.
Crye also described the second-floor hospitality space as an ode to Melbourne coffee culture in a LinkedIn post. That is the executive’s characterization of the space, rather than an independently assessed feature.
