The Cartier Roadster, the tonneau-cased sports watch with a speedometer-style dial, is returning to Australia in October 2026. DMARGE reported on 9 October 2026 that Cartier confirmed a local launch during the month, and Time+Tide reports availability at Cartier’s Melbourne Boutique from 1 October. The first run ended in 2012, so the gap is about 14 years. Stock and prices should be confirmed with Cartier before you buy or travel to a boutique.
What is coming back
The Roadster launched in 2002. Cartier’s official collection page confirms that original launch and describes the current model as a comeback. Australian reporting says the first production run ended in 2012. Hodinkee Australia’s launch report, published on 17 April 2026, introduced the reworked collection internationally and described seven new models. Those models are the only ones covered in this article.
Launch timing and where to find it in Australia
- Launch month: DMARGE (9 October 2026) reports that Cartier confirmed the Roadster collection launches locally during October 2026.
- First boutique availability: Time+Tide reports the collection is available at the Cartier Melbourne Boutique from 1 October 2026.
- What this does not establish: these are reported dates, not a live stock check. The coverage does not state stock levels at other Australian boutiques or online.

DMARGE also says the blue-and-white dial steel Large shares the steel Large price. The yellow-gold Large price is the gap to close with Cartier directly.

Medium or Large: what actually differs
“Large” refers to the larger of the two cases, not to an oversized watch in general. The two sizes differ in case dimensions, thickness, and movement. Wrist fit depends on your own wrist, so try both if you can.

Design: what changed and what stayed
The Roadster keeps the design cues that defined the original: a tonneau case, an automotive-inspired dial layout, a magnified date window that evokes a headlight, and a conical crown. Hodinkee describes the new model as an evolution rather than a radical redesign. The changes it identifies are to the bezel, the crown, and the placement of the screws.
