Choose a Casio analog-digital watch by comparing the exact model’s case size, water-resistance wording, power source, and timing features—not by assuming every hybrid model does the same job. For a vintage look, consider the AQ-240; for solar-powered sport and travel functions, compare the AQ-S800W and AQ-S810W; for shock-resistant construction and a 200 m rating, look at the G-SHOCK GA-2100. Specifications and model availability can vary by region, so confirm the full suffix on the local Casio listing.

Specifications are manufacturer claims, not independent tests. The comparison uses the exact variants shown; a different regional suffix may have different details. Casio’s watch collection spans Casio, G-SHOCK, BABY-G, EDIFICE, OCEANUS, and PRO TREK, so the brand’s analog-digital watches are not one uniform design or feature set.

#1 Best Overall
- RETRO 1980s-INSPIRED ANALOG-DIGITAL DESIGN The Casio AQ-800E-7A reimagines the iconic AQ-450 design from the 1980s with a modern vintage aesthetic. A separate analog dial and LCD display combine classic watch styling with convenient digital functionality, while the grid-pattern dial, simple bar indexes, and angular case create a distinctive retro look.
- SLIM, LIGHTWEIGHT CASE WITH STAINLESS STEEL BAND Measuring 40.7 × 32.1 × 8.7 mm (L × W × H) and weighing 52 grams, the AQ-800E-7A has a slim profile designed for comfortable everyday wear. The case features a resin/chrome-plated construction and resin glass, while the stainless steel band with adjustable clasp fits approximately 150–205 mm wrists.
- DUAL TIME & 1/100-SECOND STOPWATCH Keep track of another time zone with the Dual Time function, while the 1/100-second stopwatch measures elapsed time with a capacity of up to 59 minutes, 59.99 seconds. These practical functions add versatility without taking away from the watch's clean vintage appearance.
- DAILY ALARM, HOURLY TIME SIGNAL & EVERYDAY CONVENIENCE Stay on schedule with a daily alarm and hourly time signal. The watch also features an auto-calendar, 12/24-hour format, and separate analog and digital time displays showing hour, minute, second, PM, month, date, and day.
- WATER RESISTANT & POWERED BY SR920W BATTERY Designed for everyday wear, the AQ-800E-7A features water resistance for routine situations such as rain and hand washing. A SR920W battery provides approximately 3 years of battery life, while quartz accuracy is approximately ±30 seconds per month.
What should you check for size and everyday wear?
Compare the listed dimensions and weight rather than relying on labels such as “large” or “small.” The AQ-240E-7A is the thinnest and narrowest of the compared cases by the published dimensions. The AQ-S810W is the broadest and thickest; the GA-2100 sits between the two solar models in width and thickness but weighs more. These numbers help narrow a fit, but they cannot establish how a watch will feel on your wrist.
- Measure a watch you already find comfortable and compare its case width and thickness with the Casio listing.
- Consider how much visual space the dial and digital window occupy; dimensions alone do not describe readability.
- Look at the product image or try the watch on when possible if case shape, strap feel, or display contrast matters to you.
What do the water-resistance ratings mean for this choice?
The listed claims are not interchangeable: the GA-2100-1A1 is rated at 200 m, the AQ-S800W-1BV and AQ-S810W-1AV at 100 m, while the AQ-240E-7A page says only “Water Resistant.” Do not treat that unqualified wording as equivalent to either explicit rating. The cited EDIFICE overview gives the EFV-C120D-2A a 10-bar rating.

- Dual Time, Daily Alarm
- 1/100 second digital stopwatch (Measuring capacity: 59'59.99", Measuring modes: Elapsed time)
- Hourly Time Signal, Auto Calendar, 12/24 Hour Formats
- Accuracy: +/-30 seconds per month, Battery SR920W,Approx. battery life: 3 years
- Module 3321, Water Resistant - 30M, Self-Adjustable Metal Band
A rating alone does not provide every activity-specific use limit. Before swimming or exposing a watch to water, consult the manual for the exact model and follow its instructions, including any restrictions on operating buttons underwater.

How do power source and battery-life claims differ?
The AQ-S800W-1BV and AQ-S810W-1AV use solar power. Casio’s AQ-S800W figures distinguish between use after charging without further light and storage in darkness with power saving; those are different conditions, not a single guaranteed duration in all use. Casio lists approximately three years for the AQ-240E-7A’s SR920W and approximately three years for the GA-2100-1A1’s two SR726W cells. The EFV-C120D-2A overview says “up to 10 years,” which is a manufacturer claim for that specific model—not a general Casio hybrid-watch expectation.
Rank #3
- Band is made from Bio-Based Resin, and is produced from renewable organic materials
- LED Backlight aids visibility in darker environments
- WORLD TIME function includes 31 unique times zones, 48 cities, and features a daylight saving on/off & Home City / World Time City Swapping

World time or dual time
The AQ-S800W, AQ-S810W, and EFV-C120D-2A list world time. The AQ-240E-7A lists dual time. If you regularly track another time zone, check how the model presents and changes that time; “world time” and “dual time” are not descriptions to assume across the whole range.
Rank #4
- Multifunction watch featuring LED light, world time (30 cities), 1/100 second stopwatch, and countdown timer
- Additional functions include three daily alarms, hourly time signal, auto calendar, 12- and 24- hour formats,40 mm stainless steel case with mineral dial window
- Quartz movement with analog-digital display
- Canvas band with hook-and-loop closure
- Water resistant to 50 m (165 ft): In general, suitable for short periods of recreational swimming, but not diving or snorkeling
Alarms, stopwatch, and countdowns
The AQ-S800W and AQ-S810W list five alarms and two countdown timers alongside a stopwatch. The AQ-240E-7A lists an alarm and stopwatch, while the EFV-C120D-2A lists an alarm, stopwatch, and countdown timer. The cited GA-2100-1A1 page does not establish a comparable timing-feature list, so check its local specification page or manual if a particular function is essential.
Illumination and display use
The AQ-S810W listing specifically says its LED light illuminates the LCD only. If you need the analog hands or dial to be visible in low light, verify the exact model’s illumination behavior rather than assuming that a light reaches every part of a hybrid display.

How to narrow the choice
- Set the style and size first. Choose the AQ-240E-7A direction for vintage styling, a solar AQ-S model for a sportier look, or the GA-2100 for G-SHOCK construction. Compare the stated dimensions with a watch that fits you.
- Choose the water-resistance level your use requires. Compare the exact rating and consult that model’s manual for activity limits; do not translate “Water Resistant” into a metre rating.
- Decide how you want to manage power. Solar charging, a replaceable battery estimate, and an “up to” battery claim describe different maintenance expectations and conditions.
- List the functions you will actually use. Confirm world or dual time, alarm count, countdown timers, stopwatch, and light behavior on the exact model page.
- Confirm the complete model suffix in your region. Casio pages may differ by market, and the specifications here do not establish local availability or retailer stock.
