The Casio CA-500 is a calculator-watch series: its small keypad and LCD pair calculator functions with everyday digital timekeeping. Casio’s documented CA-500WE-1A offers an 8-digit calculator, dual time, stopwatch, alarm and calendar; heritage-color variants draw on the design of Casio’s 1976 CQ-1 clock-calculator. Because specifications can vary by suffix, check the exact model page before buying.
What is the Casio CA-500?
The CA-500 combines a calculator keypad and display with a digital watch. The CA-500WE-1A is one model with a detailed official specification listing; it should be treated as an example, not proof that every CA-500 variant has identical features.
For the WE-1A, Casio lists an 8-digit calculator, dual time, a 1/100-second stopwatch, daily alarm, hourly time signal, full auto-calendar through 2099, button-operation tone on/off, 12/24-hour format and regular timekeeping. Casio states accuracy of ±30 seconds per month. See Casio’s CA-500WE-1A specifications.
How do CA-500 models differ?
The official pages identify variants with different colors and styling, including the metallic CA-500WE-1A and heritage-color CA-500WE-4B, CA-500WEGG-9B and CA-500WE-7B. The pages do not establish a complete catalog or a side-by-side comparison of every CA-500 ever sold, so compare exact suffixes rather than assuming all specifications carry across the series.

What is the CA-500’s connection to the CQ-1?
Casio says the heritage-color CA-500 designs pay homage to the CQ-1, a clock-calculator introduced in 1976. The CQ-1 combined a time display, alarm, stopwatch and calculator; Casio describes the CA-500 colors and dial details as references to that design. Casio’s CA-500WE-4B page calls the CQ-1 “This memorable product served as the launching pad for the development of subsequent Casio combined-function innovations.”

What to check before buying
- Confirm the complete suffix. Similar CA-500 names can refer to different finishes or variants. Match the listing to the exact Casio model page.
- Check the functions you need. The WE-1A’s 8-digit calculator and timekeeping features are documented; confirm the feature list on the page for any other suffix.
- Review fit and construction. Use the exact model’s dimensions, weight, band type and clasp information rather than extrapolating from the WE-1A.
- Verify battery and water information. Battery type and stated life may be model-specific. Do not infer a numeric water rating or activity recommendation where the listing does not provide one.
- Check seller terms locally. Price, availability, warranty and returns depend on region and seller; the cited Casio pages do not establish current retailer stock or pricing.
