Casio lists the case at 52.8 × 49.5 × 16.9 mm and 65 g, so its industrial styling comes in a substantial package. This is a specifications-based review, not a hands-on assessment: the performance and durability details below are Casio’s published claims.
What is the Casio G-Shock GA-900A?
The GA-900A is a resin analog-digital G-Shock combining traditional hands with a digital display. Casio positions it as “A heavy-duty model that can be used in tough environments as well as for street fashion.” That is the manufacturer’s description, rather than an independent finding about how the watch performs in demanding conditions.
The exact yellow-band variant is GA-900A-1A9 in international listings. Casio’s Japan-market code is GA-900A-1A9JF; the regional suffix matters when checking a listing or looking for local support.

Design and fit: large, angular and easy to identify
Casio describes the bezel as a screw-fastened, nut-like ten-sided design. The dial and hands carry graphics intended to aid visibility, while checkered detailing on the band lugs and function buttons is described as non-slip. The GA-900A-1A9 adds a yellow resin band; confirm the full model code and product photos when shopping, since other listings may represent different colorways.
At 52.8 mm wide and 16.9 mm thick, the listed dimensions point to a watch that will look and feel prominent compared with a compact everyday watch. The 65 g listed weight is useful context, but numbers alone cannot establish how it will fit a particular wrist. This article does not assess comfort or real-world legibility from wear.

What functions does the GA-900A offer?
World time
The watch covers 31 time zones, represented by 48 cities plus UTC. Casio lists daylight-saving on/off, home/world city swapping and one-touch UTC access. City swapping lets the wearer exchange the home and world-time city settings; it is a function for changing which city is treated as home versus the secondary location, not a claim that the watch automatically updates every setting for travel.
Stopwatch and countdown timer
The stopwatch measures to 1/100 second and has a maximum capacity of 23:59’59.99”. Casio lists elapsed-time, split-time and first/second-place timing, plus a target-time alarm. The countdown timer can be set for up to 60 minutes.

- Band Size: Mens-Standard
- Shock Resistant
- Auto LED Light with Afterglow
- Magnetic Resistant
Alarms, display and controls
There are five daily alarms, including one snooze alarm, as well as an hourly time signal. The digital display can be configured for 12- or 24-hour time, and the button tones can be muted. A hand-shift feature moves the analog hands away from the digital display area when they would otherwise obscure its contents.
Light
Casio specifies a white Super Illuminator LED with selectable 1.5- or 3-second illumination and afterglow. The specification describes the light feature; it does not establish how readable the watch is in every lighting condition.
Rank #4
- Countdown timer, full auto calendar, 12/24 hour format
- Quartz Movement
- Case Diameter: 51.2mm. Hourly time signal
- Water resistant 200m (660ft): in general, suitable for professional marine activity and serious surface water sports, but not diving
- Shock Resistant; 200M Water Resistant; Auto LED; World Time; 5 Daily Alarms; 1/100th Sec. Stopwatch.
Is the GA-900A good for everyday wear?
It may suit someone who wants an assertive resin watch with hands, a digital readout and practical timing features in one case. World time, alarms, the stopwatch, countdown timer and LED illumination cover a range of routine uses. Its large dimensions and angular design are equally important considerations: those who prefer a discreet or slim watch may want to compare case measurements and try one on before choosing.
Casio’s listed specification page does not identify the GA-900A as solar-powered or Bluetooth-connected. Its battery estimate is approximately seven years on a CR2016 cell; that is Casio’s estimate, not a guaranteed replacement interval, and actual life can vary with use.

What does 200-meter water resistance mean here?
Casio lists the GA-900A as water resistant to 200 meters. This is a manufacturer rating, not a depth test conducted for this article. Treat the number as the stated specification, and consult Casio’s guidance for the exact model and your intended activity rather than assuming this review independently verifies suitability for a particular kind of water use.
How do you set the GA-900A?
Casio’s Japan support page for model GA-900A-1A9JF links to a full manual and quick guide, along with band adjustment/replacement and repair support: Casio GA-900A-1A9JF support. Use the guide matching the watch’s exact model and regional suffix for button sequences; the support page is regional, and language or service availability may differ elsewhere.
For ownership questions such as battery replacement or band compatibility, verify the instructions and part against the exact model code. Casio specifies a CR2016 for its battery-life estimate, but this article does not verify a replacement procedure, compatible third-party parts or service costs.
Which GA-900A listing should you check?
For the yellow-band watch, look for the exact code GA-900A-1A9, or GA-900A-1A9JF on the Japan-market product. Confirm the seller, colorway, stock and regional terms before buying. Casio’s Japan product page gives an August 2020 release month and a suggested retail price of ¥16,500 including tax; that is historical, Japan-specific information, not a current international price: Casio Japan GA-900A product page.

Who should consider the GA-900A?
- Consider it if you want an analog-digital display, a conspicuous industrial design and built-in world time, stopwatch, countdown timer and alarms.
- Check the dimensions and colorway carefully if you want a smaller case or are shopping specifically for the yellow-band A9 variant.
- Compare official specifications for other watches if solar power, Bluetooth connectivity or a different size is important; this information alone does not establish a winner against another model.
