The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Deepsea Challenge, reference 126067, is a 50 mm dive watch in grade 5 RLX titanium, rated by Rolex to 11,000 m (36,090 ft). A Fratello review describes it as Rolex’s first non-prototype titanium watch; that distinction matters because Rolex had made experimental titanium watches before this production model. Its engineering is expedition-scale, but its size makes wrist fit the practical question to settle before considering one.
From a Mariana Trench experiment to a production watch
Rolex unveiled the production Deepsea Challenge at the end of 2022. It was inspired by an experimental watch attached to the outside of filmmaker and explorer James Cameron’s submersible during his 2012 Mariana Trench dive. That experimental watch and the production reference 126067 are distinct objects: the former accompanied the expedition; the latter is a commercially offered watch.
The case back commemorates Cameron’s dive and the 1960 Trieste descent by Jacques Piccard and Don Walsh. Rolex says its experimental Deep Sea Special and Deepsea Challenge watches returned to the surface in working order after their respective expeditions. The manufacturer describes the production model as inspired by the 2012 watch, rather than as the same instrument brought to market.
What the 11,000-metre rating means
Rolex rates the Deepsea Challenge to 11,000 m (36,090 ft). The company attributes the pressure resistance to its Ringlock case system, built around a thick sapphire crystal, a high-performance nitrogen-alloyed steel compression ring, and a titanium case back. The Oyster case also has a screw-down case back, a Triplock winding crown and a helium escape valve.

Rolex says each watch is pressure-tested with a 25% safety margin, equivalent for this model to pressure at 13,750 m. It also describes the compression ring as cold-worked, reducing its volume by approximately 10%, and gives force equivalents of nearly 15 tonnes for the crystal, 17 tonnes for the ring and 19 tonnes for the case back. These are the manufacturer’s engineering descriptions and figures, not independent measurements.
The rating is a specification, not a practical invitation to take a watch to that depth. The model’s story begins with extreme-diving engineering, but most prospective owners will encounter its dimensions and weight far more directly than its pressure system.

Rolex says the titanium case and bracelet make the production model 30% lighter than the experimental steel watch that inspired it. That comparison is specifically against that experimental watch; it does not mean the 50 mm production model is light in absolute terms.
How large and heavy is it on the wrist?
Rolex’s product page gives the 50 mm diameter and 9.5 mm crystal thickness. In a December 18, 2023 hands-on review, Fratello’s Lex Stolk reported dimensions of 50 × 23 mm, a 61 mm lug-to-lug length and a weight of about 250 g. Rolex does not list the weight or lug-to-lug measurement on the product page cited here.

Stolk called it a “whale” on his wrist and said it became uncomfortable for him. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a guarantee of how it will fit another wearer. Still, a reported 61 mm lug-to-lug span and approximately 250 g mass make fit more than a minor detail. The bracelet’s suit extensions serve a functional purpose, but they do not reduce the watch’s footprint for everyday wear.
If you are considering the watch, try it on and assess how the diameter, lug span and mass sit on your own wrist. A paper specification can flag the scale; it cannot settle comfort for you.

RLX titanium: lighter than steel, still substantial
Rolex identifies RLX as grade 5 titanium and uses it for both the case and bracelet. Compared with the experimental steel watch that inspired the production model, Rolex states a 30% weight reduction. The material choice helps make a watch of this scale more wearable than the specific steel predecessor, while the reported production weight shows that “lighter” is relative.
The titanium construction also distinguishes the production Deepsea Challenge from the brand’s earlier experimental instruments. Fratello’s description of it as Rolex’s first non-prototype titanium watch is the basis for calling it the company’s first production titanium model; Rolex’s product page itself identifies the alloy and watch, but does not make that “first” claim.

Price and buying context
Rolex’s US product page listed the Deepsea Challenge at $29,100 when accessed in 2026. Fratello recorded a launch-era retail price of US$26,000 / €25,950 in its December 2023 article. These are dated, differently scoped list-price references, not actual transaction prices or interchangeable current quotes.
Rolex says only official Rolex jewelers are allowed to sell and maintain its watches. For availability, authenticity and service, confirm details with an official Rolex jeweler.
How it compares with the Omega Seamaster Ultra Deep
Fratello names the Omega Seamaster Ultra Deep as a close alternative and reports a 6,000 m rating for the model discussed, versus Rolex’s 11,000 m rating. That comparison alone is not enough to establish current model-by-model parity: the exact Omega reference and its current specifications should be checked before drawing a broader comparison.
For a buying decision, compare the exact references on the factors that affect ownership: case diameter and thickness, lug-to-lug span, mass and wrist comfort, water-resistance rating, movement and power reserve, and current regional price. On the evidence available here, the strongest clear contrast is the reported depth rating, not an all-around winner.
