The Casio G-Shock GM-B2100GD is the gold- or rose-gold-toned, full-metal version of the octagonal 2100 series. It pairs a stainless-steel case, bezel and band with Tough Solar charging, Bluetooth phone link and 200-metre water resistance. Casio’s international reference is GM-B2100GD-9A; its U.S. page lists GM-B2100GD-5A, so check the suffix and market before buying rather than assuming every listing is the same regional model.
What is the GM-B2100GD?
Casio introduced the GM-B2100 family on July 28, 2022, as a full-metal take on the octagonal 2100 design made familiar by the resin GA-2100. That design lineage reaches back to the original G-SHOCK DW-5000C. The GM-B2100GD is the family’s gold ion-plated option; Casio’s launch announcement describes its color as bright rose gold. Color can look different under varied lighting, on screens, and in regional product photography.
The family also includes the silver GM-B2100D and black ion-plated GM-B2100BD. Casio documents the three finish distinctions, but its announcement does not establish current stock or prices. See Casio’s July 28, 2022 launch announcement.
Is the GM-B2100GD solid metal?
Its exterior is substantially metal: Casio specifies a stainless-steel case, bezel and solid stainless-steel band, with gold ion plating on the case and band. The bezel, band, side buttons and screws are among the components Casio describes as gold IP finished. It is not an all-metal shock-protection system, however: resin buffering parts sit between the bezel and case.

- G-SHOCK is a shock-resistant clock that builds a new concept of toughness on the watch. It is a full metal model equipped with a smartphone link in the digital/analog combination ''GA-2100'' series developed after inheriting the concept of the first model DW-5000C.
- [Shock-resistant structure] G-SHOCK's core technology in pursuit of toughness is resistant to shocks that protect the module with a unique uneven shape, preventing direct impact on glass & buttons.
- [20 aThesis waterproof] A variety of places & situations can be used, such as daily water work, swimming, surfing, jet skiing, etc.
- [Mobile link function] Compatible mobile phones can be linked by Bluetoothⓡ communication.
- [Other product specifications] Tough solar/needle evacuation function/World time/stopwatch/timer/time alarm/battery indicator display/power saving function/full auto calendar/12/24 hours display switching/operation sound ON/OFF switching/date switch/date Display / day display / double LED light
Casio says the bezel is forged, cut and polished, with hairline and mirror finishes used on different surfaces. It also describes a three-pronged case-lug structure intended to direct shock toward the band connection, while resin parts protect the module. These are the manufacturer’s construction descriptions, not independent impact-test results. The watch has a screw-lock back and mineral glass.

How do solar charging and Bluetooth work?
Tough Solar is the watch’s rechargeable power system. Casio’s launch announcement estimates about seven months of operation after a full charge without further solar charging, or about 18 months after a full charge when power-saving is enabled in storage. These are manufacturer estimates, not independently measured battery-life results.
Bluetooth Smartphone Link supports automatic time adjustment and app-assisted settings. Casio’s launch materials also list world time across 38 time zones (38 cities plus UTC), with the city set updateable when paired with a smartphone. The associated app features named at launch include approximately 300 world-time cities, Time & Place, reminders and phone finder, in addition to watch-setting features. App functions and operating-system support may change; check current regional app information before relying on a specific feature.

How does it differ from the GA-2100?
The clearest documented difference is construction: the GM-B2100GD uses a stainless-steel case, bezel and band, with gold ion plating, while Casio positions the GA-2100 as the earlier 2100-series design that preceded the full-metal GM-B2100 family. The GM-B2100GD also has Bluetooth Smartphone Link and Tough Solar according to its specifications. The models share the octagonal 2100 design language, but the available manufacturer information does not establish a complete, side-by-side specification comparison for every GA-2100 reference.
The full-metal build also comes with a stated weight of 165 g for the international GM-B2100GD-9A. That figure helps distinguish it from a resin-oriented interpretation, but it cannot tell you whether the watch will feel comfortable on your wrist. Comfort, clasp feel, legibility in everyday conditions, and how the finish wears require hands-on assessment; Casio’s specifications do not answer those questions.

Which GM-B2100 finish should you choose?
- GM-B2100GD: Choose this if you want the gold/rose-gold-toned ion-plated finish. Verify the regional suffix and exact listing.
- GM-B2100D: The family’s silver-finish option.
- GM-B2100BD: The family’s black ion-plated option.
Casio’s sources establish these colorway distinctions, not current availability or local pricing. Compare the precise reference, finish, seller and market listing before purchase; a similar family name alone does not confirm that two listings are the same regional model.
