Those specifications make it a feature-rich metal alternative to lighter resin squares—but they do not establish how it wears or whether it is worth the price for you.
What is the GMW-B5000D-2?
This is a stainless-steel, full-metal G-SHOCK in the familiar square case shape. Casio describes its blue dial accent and design as drawing on the original square G-SHOCK; that is the manufacturer’s design positioning. The model name is written here as GMW-B5000D-2, the hyphenated form used in Casio’s product URL and specification section.
Casio’s official product pages list these specifications; no publication year is stated on those pages.

How does its timekeeping and power work?
Tough Solar
The watch uses Casio Tough Solar charging. This is solar-assisted power, not a promise that the battery will remain charged in every use pattern or lighting condition.
Multiband 6 radio control
Multiband 6 can adjust the watch using radio time-calibration signals. Signal reception depends on location and conditions; the feature does not mean the watch can receive a signal everywhere.
Bluetooth time adjustment
Pairing with the CASIO WATCHES app enables automatic time adjustment and other connected functions. Bluetooth provides an additional route for setting time; it should not be read as a guarantee of a successful connection in every circumstance.

What can the app and watch do?
Casio lists app functions including automatic time adjustment, easy watch setting, world time for approximately 300 cities plus a user-added point, time and place, reminders, and phone finder. These are app-connected features, not all standalone watch display modes.
On-watch world time is a separate function: Casio’s GMW-B5000D series page describes five world times selected from 39 cities, along with a full-auto LED backlight. The distinction matters if you are choosing the watch for travel: the larger approximate city list belongs to the app feature, while the watch’s listed city selection is narrower.

How heavy is it compared with a resin square?
At 167 g, the GMW-B5000D-2 is substantially heavier on paper than the GWM5610-1, which Casio’s US comparison table lists at 51.7 g. This is a comparison of published specifications, not a prediction of how either model will feel on a particular wrist.
The weight is one of the clearest buying trade-offs: this model’s stainless-steel case and solid bracelet give it a very different material and mass profile from the lighter resin option. If low weight is your priority, compare dimensions, materials and specifications directly before choosing; individual comfort cannot be established from the spec sheet.

It is a plausible choice if you specifically want a full-metal square G-SHOCK and value the combination of Tough Solar, radio-controlled time adjustment, Bluetooth connectivity, shock resistance and a 200 m rating. Its published 167 g weight and 49.3 × 43.2 × 13 mm dimensions are worth weighing against a lighter resin square if you prefer a less substantial watch.
The available official product information establishes materials, dimensions and functions, but not real-world comfort, clasp feel, readability, finishing quality, accuracy or durability beyond the stated construction and ratings. Without hands-on observations, those qualities cannot be presented as tested impressions. Value also depends on the price and your preferences; the specifications alone do not settle whether it is worth buying.
What the specifications do—and do not—tell you
- Established by Casio: full-metal stainless-steel construction, 167 g weight, listed dimensions, mineral glass, Tough Solar, Multiband 6, Bluetooth functions, shock resistance and 200 m / 20 bar water resistance.
- Not established by those specifications: how comfortable it is on your wrist, how easily you read its display in your conditions, how the clasp feels, how well the finish resists marks in daily wear, or whether you will prefer it to a lighter resin model.
- Dependent on conditions: radio reception, Bluetooth connection and solar charging are functions whose success depends on signal, connection and light conditions.
