The Casio G-Shock MR-G MRG-B2100B-1A is a premium 2100-series watch made from titanium and specialist alloys—not carbon. Casio lists a titanium/Cobarion case and bezel, a titanium band, solar charging, Bluetooth connectivity, Multiband 6 timekeeping and 200-meter water resistance. This guide explains what the model is, how its construction differs from a basic description of a 2100-series watch, and what its official specifications do—and do not—establish.
What is the Casio G-Shock MRG-B2100B-1A?
It is a model in Casio’s premium MR-G collection, built around the octagonal design language associated with the G-Shock 2100 series. Casio’s US product listing identifies the exact reference as MRG-B2100B-1A and describes it as a titanium watch. Its published dimensions are 49.5 × 44.4 × 13.6 mm, and its listed weight is 122 g. See Casio’s US MRG-B2100B-1A specifications.
Casio Japan announced the model for release on June 14, 2024. That is the announced release date, not evidence of current availability or price. Casio’s release announcement identifies the launch and its design inspiration.
Is the MRG-B2100B-1A carbon or titanium?
Casio’s official materials describe titanium and alloys, not carbon. The US listing gives the case and bezel material as titanium/Cobarion and the band as titanium. Casio’s MR-G feature page gives a more specific breakdown: the top bezel uses COBARION; the band links use DAT55G; and Ti64 is used for the case, case back and buttons. The available official material does not identify carbon as a case or band material.

#1 Best Overall
- COBARION: Used on the top bezel. Casio describes it as a cobalt-chromium alloy manufactured exclusively by Eiwa Corporation.
- DAT55G: Used in the band links. Casio identifies DAT/DAT55G as registered trademarks of Daido Steel.
- Ti64: Used for the case, case back and buttons.
Casio says COBARION has hardness about four times that of pure titanium and DAT55G about three times that of pure titanium. These are the manufacturer’s published material comparisons, not independent test results. The detailed construction and claims appear on Casio’s MR-G feature page.
How is its bezel and dial constructed?
A multi-part, finished bezel
Casio says the bezel is made from 27 separate components, each polished before assembly. It describes buffers between parts of the multi-component bezel and case as helping absorb impacts to the module. This explains the manufacturer’s stated construction and purpose; it is not an independently measured impact-performance result.

A lattice dial inspired by kigumi
The dial takes inspiration from kigumi, traditional Japanese interlocking woodwork. Casio describes a corrugated base and openings that create a three-dimensional lattice pattern. Those openings are also functional: they admit light to support the watch’s solar charging. The octagonal bezel and lattice dial are both tied to the kigumi design concept in Casio’s feature and launch materials.
What features does the MRG-B2100B-1A have?
Casio’s published feature list combines timekeeping and charging systems with G-Shock protection and everyday display functions. The precise marketed list can vary by regional product page; the following reflects Casio’s US listing and MR-G feature material.

The evidence-backed distinction is its documented materials and construction: a multi-part polished bezel, COBARION at the top bezel, DAT55G in band links, and Ti64 components, paired with the listed solar, radio and Bluetooth functions. Casio’s feature page also describes the impact-buffering arrangement and kigumi-inspired dial. The published sources here do not provide a directly comparable specification table for another 2100 reference, nor do they establish how it feels on the wrist or how it performs in independent accuracy, comfort or durability tests. A model-to-model choice should therefore be made against the other reference’s own official specifications rather than assuming every 2100 differs in the same way.

What should you check before buying?
- Confirm the reference is MRG-B2100B-1A; do not rely on a listing title that only says “MR-G B2100.”
- Check the seller’s stated region, warranty and return terms directly with the retailer; Casio’s launch announcement does not establish current inventory or pricing.
- Use the 49.5 × 44.4 × 13.6 mm case dimensions and 122 g listed weight as specification references, not as a substitute for trying on the watch if fit is important.
- If comparing it with another 2100-series model, check that model’s materials, dimensions, functions and regional feature list individually. The claims about hardness and impact buffering above are Casio’s descriptions, not independent comparative testing.
