The Casio G-Shock MRG-B5000HT-1 pairs the familiar square digital G-SHOCK format with a hand-hammered titanium-alloy bezel and bracelet, premium finishing, and a substantial everyday feature set. Its texture may read as distinctive rather than discreet; Casio describes a pronounced relief pattern, but appearance in person will depend on light and viewing distance. It is a 500-piece worldwide limited edition, and Casio reported that the original quantity sold quickly. Its appeal is clearest for buyers who value artisanal metalwork as much as solar-powered timekeeping and rugged specifications—not for anyone seeking an ordinary, low-key digital watch.

What is the MRG-B5000HT-1?

The MRG-B5000HT-1 is a limited-edition square digital watch in Casio’s MR-G line, the premium G-SHOCK range. Casio announced it on July 24, 2025, with a Japanese release date of August 8, 2025. The company says the run is limited to 500 pieces worldwide, with each watch individually serial numbered. Casio’s Japanese launch announcement and its MR-G product page establish the edition and construction details.

As a review based on Casio’s published specifications rather than hands-on wear, the key distinction is straightforward: this is a practical digital G-SHOCK whose metalwork is meant to be part of the purchase, not just a different finish on a standard square.

How does the hand-hammered finish work?

Casio says tsuiki is a traditional Japanese metalworking technique in which a hammer shapes metal into a raised, three-dimensional form. For this watch, tsuiki artisan Kazuya Watanabe hand-hammers the bezel and bracelet. Casio attributes the irregular, flowing relief to his yuragi, or “fluctuating,” technique and says the resulting pattern varies from piece to piece rather than being reproduced identically by machine.

Casio’s account of Watanabe’s background includes training in copperware hammering at Gyokusendo, establishing his own forge in 2005, and receiving craft exhibition awards. The brand describes the finish as forceful and textured; that is a manufacturer characterization, not an independent assessment of how subtle or prominent it looks on the wrist.

Materials and protective construction

Casio says the bezel and bracelet are made from DAT55G, a titanium alloy it describes as three times harder than pure titanium, and are treated with a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating for scratch and abrasion resistance. These are Casio’s material and coating claims, not independent test results. The hardness comparison applies to the alloy as described; it does not establish that the complete watch is three times as scratch-resistant as another watch, or that the DLC finish is scratch-proof.

The Japanese release describes the case’s silver-gray finish as inspired by oborogin and uses copper-colored screws and buttons as accents. Casio also says the case is assembled from 25 components and uses a Multi-Guard Structure, with buffers between bezel components. The layered construction is intended to protect the watch while allowing the detailed metal finish, but no independent durability testing is established here.

These are listed capabilities, not a report of tested reception, app performance, or real-world battery life. Casio’s page identifies the WATCHES app functions but does not establish broader compatibility or a battery-life figure in the cited material.

How large and heavy is it?

Casio UK lists the case at 49.4 × 43.2 × 12.9 mm and the weight at 112 g. Its listing specifies a titanium case and bezel and a solid titanium band. Those measurements are useful for comparing dimensions on paper, but they do not establish how large it appears or how comfortable it feels on a particular wrist; no wrist-size or comfort assessment is available.

How much does the MRG-B5000HT-1 cost?

Casio’s Japanese launch release gave a suggested retail price of ¥935,000 including tax. Casio UK’s product page lists £6,200. These are separate market-specific prices, not a current US price, and neither should be treated as a live offer in another country.

Casio’s first-half FY2026 results briefing says the limited quantity sold out quickly despite the high ¥935,000 price range. That is Casio’s own corporate account of the launch, not an independent sales study. It does not confirm current authorized-retailer stock or secondary-market prices. Check the relevant market’s current listings before making an availability or price decision.

Is it worth the price?

There is no objective value verdict without knowing what a buyer values most. On specifications alone, the watch brings robust G-SHOCK functions—solar charging, radio timekeeping, phone link, timers, alarms, and 200 m water resistance—to a premium square format. The price premium is more readily understood as payment for the limited production, hand-finished bezel and bracelet, and MR-G construction than as a way to obtain functions unavailable in less expensive digital watches.

It is a more coherent choice for someone who specifically wants a square G-SHOCK with individually varied tsuiki metalwork and accepts a luxury-market price. If the priorities are restrained appearance, a proven fit, or a lower-cost route to practical digital functions, the available specifications alone do not make this model the obvious choice. Comfort, legibility in person, clasp adjustment, long-term wear, and durability have not been independently assessed here.

Who should consider it?

  • Consider it if you want a square digital G-SHOCK with hand-worked metal finishing, appreciate that each hammer pattern differs, and value the MR-G materials and construction.
  • Look elsewhere if you mainly want an inexpensive functional digital watch, need a low-profile appearance, or require hands-on confirmation of fit and comfort before buying.
  • Verify before purchase the current price and availability in your market, and examine the watch in person if the prominence of the relief finish or wrist feel is important to you.
