The Casio G-SHOCK MT-G MTG-B4000 stands out for its carbon-fiber-and-stainless-steel frame, which Casio developed through an AI-assisted process with human designers. It pairs that construction with solar charging, Bluetooth smartphone linking, Multiband 6 radio timekeeping and a 200-meter water-resistance rating. Those specifications belong to the exact reference and market shown on each Casio product page; the MTG-B4000-1A listing, for example, measures 56.6 × 45.3 × 14.4 mm and weighs 112 g.
What makes the MTG-B4000 different?
The MTG-B4000 is part of Casio’s premium MT-G line, where G-SHOCK impact protection meets a more elaborate metal-and-composite exterior. Its central design feature is a frame that combines carbon fiber and stainless steel within Casio’s Dual Core Guard structure. Casio describes this frame as a new configuration for the structure, with the band connection areas integrated into the frame and metal lugs attached to the carbon frame without screws. Casio’s MTG-B4000 product page describes these construction details.
Casio says the layered frame uses a carbon- and glass-fiber base material, which is cut to form its structure. The company also notes that the bezel’s exact pattern can vary because of the molding process. These are manufacturer descriptions of the design, not independent measurements showing how the frame performs compared with another watch.
How was AI involved in the design?
Casio describes the MTG-B4000 as a collaboration between human designers and AI. Designers first developed base concepts; AI then analyzed and simulated them using accumulated data on G-SHOCK shock-resistant structures. The process produced optimized 3D prototypes against structural-strength and material-property requirements, after which people manually refined the designs through repeated adjustments.
#1 Best Overall
- From the MT-G series, which pursues innovative structural beauty by fusing resin and metal materials—the origins of G-SHOCK—we introduce a model that unifies carbon and metal in black, exuding a powerful form and sophisticated presence.
- The MTG-B4000 employs a dual-core guard structure developed by AI utilizing accumulated shock resistance data, and a frame that combines different materials, combining carbon and stainless steel. This achieves an innovative design that balances strength and beauty.
- Through co-creation between AI and humans, materials, structure, and form are organically combined, pursuing original functional beauty. In the development process, AI assisted in the analysis of the designer's base proposal and the optimization of simulations, and the designer re-evaluated the results through a mutually complementary iterative process, leading to a shape that balances functionality and beauty. The
- carbon laminated frame is formed by three-dimensional processing of a material that laminates sheet-like carbon and glass fiber to create a complex shape. The bezel adopts a two-part structure, inner and outer, and the stainless steel parts are beautifully polished using a combination of hairline and mirror finishes depending on the area, and then treated with black IP coating.
- The MTG-B4000B-1AJF features Triple G Resist, combining shock resistance, centrifugal force resistance, and vibration resistance. The case back is three-dimensionally molded using MIM (Metal Injection Molding), which forms powdered metal, protecting the case.
“AI-assisted design developed with human designers” is a fair summary. Casio does not describe the watch as autonomously invented by AI, and the use of AI does not by itself establish greater real-world toughness.

What does it do beyond timekeeping?
Watch functions
Casio’s MTG-B4000 family page lists automatic hand-home-position correction, world time for 27 cities, a stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm, LED light and date/day display, alongside solar power, Smartphone Link and Multiband 6. These are listed family features; confirm the exact reference’s regional specification page for its configuration. Casio’s family product page provides the feature list.

CASIO WATCHES app features
The app’s world-time feature covers about 300 cities, which is separate from the watch’s 27-city world-time function. Casio also describes automatic time adjustment four times per day, easy watch setting, graphical watch-status information, a self-check, “Time & place” logging to a map and a phone finder. These are app-described functions; they should not be confused with additional city slots built into the watch itself. Casio’s MTG-B4000 page outlines the app features.

Casio highlights polished metal finishing, a metal-injection-molded case back, a layered dial and sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. These details help explain the watch’s premium presentation, but they are not comparative proof of better scratch resistance or finishing quality than another model. The exact materials and finish should be checked against the reference being considered.

Which MTG-B4000 reference should you compare?
MTG-B4000 references differ by finish and market coding, and Casio’s pages use slightly different punctuation conventions. The family page lists MTGB4000B-1A2 and MTGB40001A, while the MT-G collection page also lists MTGB4000B-1A and MTGB4000D-1A. Confirm the complete alphanumeric code, finish and included band on the item’s own product page rather than assuming all B4000s are identical. Casio’s MT-G collection page shows additional listed references.
How to assess the MTG-B4000 for your needs
Compare the exact reference with the alternative on the same regional basis. A useful checklist is:
- Construction: Check the carbon-and-metal frame, case and bezel materials, and whether the band is resin, composite or metal.
- Fit: Compare case width, thickness, overall dimensions and weight, then consider whether the band and watch size suit your wrist.
- Timekeeping: Separate solar charging, radio reception and Bluetooth/app functions; consider which features you will actually use.
- Resistance claims: Compare the stated water-resistance rating and manufacturer-described shock, vibration and centrifugal-force resistance. Casio’s specifications are not independent comparative test results.
- Variant and region: Match the full reference and finish, and check local warranty terms and availability with the seller or Casio.
Casio’s product pages establish the listed features and references, but they do not provide an independent comparative durability test, consumer survey or sales statistic for the MTG-B4000.
