Which GMW-BZ5000 models launched in the US?
Casio America’s December 10, 2025 announcement named three initial color variants:
- GMW-BZ5000D-1: silver
- GMW-BZ5000BD-1: black
- GMW-BZ5000GD-9: gold
Casio Computer Co. had announced the international release on November 4, 2025. The US announcement said select jewelers would receive the watches during the 2025 holiday season, followed by G-SHOCK.com, the G-SHOCK Soho Store, and select department stores beginning in February 2026. What is new about the MIP LCD?
Casio describes the GMW-BZ5000’s high-definition memory-in-pixel display as high-contrast, wide-angle, and readable in bright conditions. The company calls it the first MIP LCD in a full-metal G-SHOCK. These are manufacturer claims, not independent test results.

The display offers four time-mode layouts. Through the companion app, users can choose STANDARD or CLASSIC typography; CLASSIC uses a traditional seven-segment style. That gives the watch a more configurable face than a fixed digital layout, while retaining a digital display. Solar power, timekeeping, and everyday functions
Casio lists Tough Solar charging, Multiband 6 radio time calibration, and Bluetooth Smartphone Link. Solar charging and the two time-setting systems are separate conveniences: the watch can receive radio time signals where available and connect to a phone through Bluetooth. The cited specifications do not establish GPS or smartphone notifications.

- World time covering 35 time zones and 55 cities, plus UTC
- Stopwatch and countdown timer
- Alarms and calendar
- LED light
- Shock resistance and 200-meter water resistance

How Casio builds the full-metal case
The exterior uses interlocking metal bezel and center-case components around an internal resin protector, with a screw-lock case back. Casio presents this layered construction as part of the watch’s shock-resistant design. The metal exterior changes the classic 5000-series look without meaning the entire protective structure is metal. The available official materials do not provide independent durability comparisons or a side-by-side test against other full-metal 5000-series models.

Its release specified the retailer rollout above, but the stated range is an announcement price, not a guarantee of current transaction prices. Check sellers for live stock and the exact model suffix, since color variants are distinct products.
What about the rainbow GMW-BZ5000RC-1?
Casio’s US G-SHOCK site also lists a rainbow-finished GMW-BZ5000RC-1 with MIP, Smartphone Link, Multiband 6, and Tough Solar.
