The 5269 guide specifies two SR927W silver-oxide batteries and estimates approximately two years of operation under a stated use pattern: one 1.5-second illumination per day, 20 seconds of continuous direction readings 20 times per month, two minutes of temperature readings once a week, and 20 seconds of alarm operation each day.
