Casio’s MDV-106 Duro is getting a factory-fitted fabric-strap version, sold as the MDV106C. The update keeps the stainless-steel case, quartz movement, date window, screw-down crown and stated 200 m water resistance, but replaces the resin band and changes the dial to large Arabic numerals. In the United States, Casio lists the watch at $110—roughly $25 to $40 more than commonly available resin Duro models. That makes the MDV106C a comfort and style refresh rather than a new movement or a higher-rated dive instrument.
What is different about the Casio MDV-106C?
The MDV106C is the fabric-strap branch of Casio’s long-running MDV-106 “Duro” line. Its two visible changes are substantial enough to alter the watch’s character: a woven fabric strap replaces the original resin band, and the dial uses bold Arabic numerals instead of the familiar combination of applied circular and rectangular markers.

Notebookcheck’s Kristen Spradlin described the release as a Duro that “ditches the stiff resin band for a woven fabric strap” and arrives in three style variants. The underlying watch remains recognizably the same affordable quartz diver-style model.

What specifications stay the same?
The fabric version retains the Duro’s core hardware and stated water-resistance package. Reported dimensions are 48.5 × 44.2 × 12.1 mm, and the watch weighs 96 g. Its listed compatible wrist range is 175–215 mm, a specification that matters particularly to people with smaller wrists.
| Specification | MDV106C report |
|---|---|
| Case | Stainless steel |
| Crystal | Mineral |
| Bezel | Aluminum, unidirectional |
| Movement | Quartz |
| Functions | Time and date |
| Crown and case back | Screw-down crown and screw-lock case back |
| Water resistance | 200 m stated rating |
| Battery life | Approximately three years |
| Stated accuracy | ±20 seconds per month |
| Dimensions | 48.5 × 44.2 × 12.1 mm |
| Weight | 96 g |
| Reported wrist range | 175–215 mm |
The 200 m figure is a stated water-resistance rating, not evidence in the supplied specifications that the watch carries ISO Diver’s 200M certification. G-Central specifically distinguishes the MDV-106 from ISO-certified G-SHOCK Frogman models, so buyers should not treat the Duro as an ISO-certified professional dive watch on that basis alone.
How much is the Casio Duro with the fabric strap?
US reporting puts the MDV106C at $110 through Casio’s website. Gear Patrol and Notebookcheck place common resin-strap Duro references at about $85 or less, while Notebookcheck reports that some resin models can be found below $70 at Amazon and other retailers. The practical premium is therefore roughly $25 to $40, depending on the resin reference, retailer and sale timing.

Designed for durability, the stainless steel material offers a polished, stylish look, making it suitable for both casual and professional settings.
Those figures are not a permanent universal price difference: retailer discounts and regional pricing can change the gap. The $110 figure is the reported US price, and the available evidence confirms US Casio listing information rather than a worldwide launch schedule.
Is the MDV106C worth $110?
It is most defensible for buyers who specifically want the factory fabric strap and the new numeral dial. Gear Patrol says the woven material “breathes much easier against your wrist,” addressing the resin band’s main comfort complaint. You also avoid sourcing and fitting an aftermarket strap yourself, and the tan, green and black treatments give the Duro a more casual field-watch look.
The value case is weaker if you only want the Duro’s case, quartz reliability and 200 m rating. Those fundamentals are largely unchanged, and a cheaper resin Duro delivers them for less. Gear Patrol’s Ethan Brehm summarized the broader category tension with the line, “Dive watches aren’t meant to be cheap.” In this release, the extra money buys the strap, dial execution and convenience—not a new movement, larger battery or higher water-resistance specification.

The clean 3-hand analog layout with date display at 3 o'clock keeps the dial uncluttered and immediately legible at a glance.
- 44MM STAINLESS STEEL CASE | 22MM LUG WIDTH | MINERAL GLASS — The case measures 44mm in diameter, 12mm in height, with a 49mm lug-to-lug length and a standard 22mm lug width — making strap upgrades effortless with a vast range of aftermarket options. Mineral glass protects the dial from everyday scratches and impacts.

Choose the fabric model when
- You dislike the feel or stiffness of the resin band.
- You prefer large Arabic numerals to the original marker layout.
- You want a factory-matched black, green or tan strap and dial.
- Your wrist is within the reported 175–215 mm range.
Choose a resin Duro when
- Your priority is the lowest purchase price.
- You are comfortable replacing the strap separately.
- You prefer the original Duro dial design.
- You do not need the fabric version’s appearance or ventilation.
Is the fabric strap more comfortable than the resin strap?
The main expected benefit is breathability: woven fabric generally allows more airflow against the wrist than a solid resin band, and Gear Patrol characterizes the new strap as breathing easier. Comfort is still personal, and the watch head remains large at 44.2 mm wide and 12.1 mm thick. A strap change cannot make that case wear like a compact watch.
The fabric version also has a practical fit limit. Casio-related reporting gives a 175 mm minimum wrist size, so smaller-wrist buyers should verify fit before ordering. An aftermarket strap can be an alternative for an existing resin Duro, but the supplied reporting does not establish a particular replacement-strap SKU or universal compatibility list.
Can I get the new Casio Duro on Amazon?
The confirmed availability in the supplied reporting is Casio’s US website. Amazon evidence applies clearly to existing resin-strap MDV-106 listings, not to a verified MDV106C listing. Search for “Casio MDV-106 Duro dive watch” when comparing the cheaper resin baseline, and inspect the reference number and strap shown in any marketplace listing before assuming it is the fabric model.

What does the update mean for water use?
The MDV106C retains the reported 200 m water-resistance rating, screw-down crown, screw-lock case back and unidirectional bezel. Those features make it suitable for the same broad recreational-use expectations as the resin Duro when the watch is properly maintained, but the rating should not be upgraded in description to “ISO-certified dive watch.” Water resistance can also depend on seal condition, crown position and servicing, so a numerical rating is not a substitute for following Casio’s care guidance.

Buy the black-on-black MDV106C-1AV for the least conspicuous option, the green-on-green MDV106C-3AV for the strongest color statement, or the black-dial/tan-strap variant for contrast. If price matters more than the factory strap, compare a standard resin MDV-106 first; the core specifications are close enough that the decision becomes one of comfort, dial design and appearance.

The MDV106C is therefore an incremental but meaningful refresh: the strap and dial change the wearing experience, while the size, quartz platform and stated 200 m resistance remain familiar. At $110 in the US, it is a premium version of the Duro, not a new tier of dive-watch certification or performance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the MDV106C use an automatic movement?
No. The reported watch uses a quartz movement, with approximately three years of battery life and stated accuracy of ±20 seconds per month.
What wrist size fits the Casio MDV106C?
Published specifications report a compatible wrist range of 175–215 mm. Measure your wrist before ordering, especially if you usually need short straps.
Is the MDV106C smaller than the regular Duro?
No smaller case is reported for the fabric model. Its listed dimensions remain 48.5 × 44.2 × 12.1 mm, so the strap change does not reduce the watch’s physical presence.
Does the MDV106C include a sapphire crystal?
No. The reported crystal is mineral, matching the established Duro specification rather than upgrading to sapphire.
