What “negative display” means—and what is known about legibility
Notebookcheck’s 1 March 2026 coverage describes the 1BV as the negative-display version, with a darker, nearly uniform black appearance. Casio’s retrieved product-page text describes a large LCD and amber backlight but does not itself call the display negative. Neither source establishes how readable this display is in dim indoor light or provides a controlled comparison with a standard LCD. The backlight is the listed aid for viewing the display in low light; practical readability without it remains unverified.
Casio describes the screen as having a large LCD for visibility and the LED backlight as intended to make it easier to read. Those are manufacturer claims, not independent readability findings. Details are on Casio’s official product page and in Notebookcheck’s 1 March 2026 report.

Water resistance: what the 50-meter rating says
Casio rates the watch at 50 meters (5 bar). That is the stated water-resistance rating; it should not be read as proof that the watch is appropriate for every water activity. The product listing does not provide activity-specific guidance beyond the rating.
Price and regional availability
Casio China’s February 2026 new-product notice lists the W-221H-1BV at 290 yuan. That is a China-market price published in that announcement, not a current worldwide price. Casio Singapore’s series announcement, published 27 April 2026, includes the 1BV among three color variants; it establishes a Singapore listing, not availability in every country.
