The current Certina DS PH200M is a vintage-inspired 200 m diver with a 42.8 mm case, a sapphire crystal and the Powermatic 80.611 automatic movement. This review focuses on the blue-dial reference C036.407.18.040.00, which Certina lists on a NATO strap. Other DS PH200M references use different dial, finish and strap or bracelet combinations, so check the exact reference sold in your market before comparing specifications or buying.
Which DS PH200M is this review about?
Certina currently lists several DS PH200M Powermatic 80 variants. The subject here is reference C036.407.18.040.00: a blue-dial stainless-steel model supplied on a NATO strap. It is not interchangeable with every watch carrying the DS PH200M name. For example, reference C036.407.11.050.01 has a black dial and Milanese mesh bracelet; Certina’s regional listing gives it a 200 m water-resistance rating. Design and proportions
The PH200M is a revival of a historical Certina diver, presented in 2019 as a return to the past. Its appeal is the vintage-inspired look rather than a claim that every detail exactly reproduces a 1960s original. At 42.8 mm wide and 11.9 mm high, the current listed model has a substantial case diameter without being especially tall on paper. Those dimensions do not establish how it will fit an individual wrist; lug-to-lug length is not stated in the cited current product sheet. The 20 mm lug width gives a useful strap-sizing reference, but confirm that any replacement strap suits the exact attachment system and case.
Movement, crystal and water resistance
Current Powermatic 80.611
Certina lists an automatic Powermatic 80.611, an 80-hour power reserve and a Nivachron balance spring for the current reference reviewed here. Sapphire on this reference, acrylic on earlier configurations
The current C036.407.18.040.00 sheet specifies sapphire. That differs from reporting on the earlier DS PH200M revival: Swatch Group’s 2019 announcement described rounded Hesalite box glass with anti-reflective treatment and NEX Scratchguard, while WatchTime reviewed reference C036.407.16.050.00 with a curved acrylic crystal and a Powermatic 80.111. Certina’s 200 m rating
Certina’s regional product listing states, “Up to a pressure of 20 bar (200 m).” This is the manufacturer’s rating for the listed model; it is not a guarantee that a pre-owned or unserviced watch remains water-resistant, nor does the figure alone establish suitability for a particular dive. What older review testing can—and cannot—tell you
WatchTime’s review of the earlier C036.407.16.050.00 configuration describes its sample as running with positional deviations from −1 to +8 seconds per day, a greatest deviation of 9 seconds per day and an average deviation of +4.2 seconds per day. Those are measurements reported for that publication’s tested sample, not a Certina guarantee and not a test of the current 80.611 reference. WatchTime’s review
Is the Certina DS PH200M worth considering?
It is worth considering if you want a vintage-styled diver and the specific current configuration suits your preferences: the reviewed reference combines a sapphire crystal, a long stated reserve and a NATO strap, while other references change the dial, finish or supplied bracelet. Its 42.8 mm width is a key fit question; check the dimensions against a watch you already wear or try it in person if possible.

Its strongest case is for someone drawn to this particular design and current specification who confirms the fit and purchase terms first.
