Certina’s DS-2 Powermatic 80 is a modern reinterpretation of the DS-2 introduced in 1968—not a literal reissue. The 2022 launch coverage describes a tonneau-shaped steel watch with a Powermatic 80 automatic movement, 200 m water resistance and a choice of four dial-and-strap configurations.
What is the Certina DS-2?
The DS-2 is a Certina watch collection whose original model was introduced in 1968, according to Monochrome Watches’ 2022 coverage. That review says “DS” refers to a double-security system intended to protect the movement from shocks, dust and water. This is the review’s account of the name and history, rather than a quotation from Certina.
The revived Powermatic 80 carries the vintage model’s distinctive, rounded tonneau case shape into a contemporary design. Its updated movement, sapphire crystals and reported specifications make it a reinterpretation rather than a claim of exact historical reproduction.

These are reported product specifications, not results from independent testing. The later retailer listing also gives specifications for reference C024.407.11.051.00; it does not establish that every detail applies to every DS-2 reference. Chrono24’s listing for that reference is a seller listing, not a Certina product archive.
Which DS-2 configurations were reported?
The 2022 review lists four references. The principal differences are dial finish and color, and the supplied textile strap or mesh bracelet:

The prices are launch-era figures reported for 2022, not current quotes. The sources do not provide a lug-width measurement, so they are not enough to confirm compatibility with a third-party strap.

Availability and pricing can vary by country, seller and date. A later listing for one reference does not establish that all four remain available or that a listed seller is authorized. Before ordering, check the exact reference number and confirm the seller’s current Certina dealer status, warranty terms, regional availability and price. Treat the 2022 prices above as historical context, not a guide to today’s market.
