Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →CES 2025 was less about a headline smartwatch and more about technologies likely to shape watches, health trackers, and connected wearables. Held in Las Vegas from January 7–10, the show drew more than 141,000 attendees and over 4,500 exhibitors, according to CTA. For watch buyers, the key distinction is whether a device was shipping, planned for later, or only a concept.
What CES 2025 meant for watches
CES did not produce a single new smartwatch that changed the market. Instead, it highlighted three developments relevant to watches: more conversational AI, broader health monitoring, and displays that are becoming more adaptive and useful.
Samsung’s Vision AI televisions, Sony’s 3D-production tools, and health concepts pointed toward devices that interpret surroundings, understand natural-language instructions, and present information in more personalized ways. Those ideas may eventually reach wrist-worn devices, but demonstrations are not evidence that a particular watch already offers them.
Collecting a measurement is easier than turning it into clinically useful advice. Health products shown at CES were not automatically medical devices or substitutes for professional diagnosis.

The health technology worth watching
Withings Omnia: a health mirror, not a smartwatch
Withings showed Omnia, an interactive health-mirror concept designed to bring multiple measurements into one interface and provide a conversational way to view and interpret health information.
Though not worn on the wrist, a health mirror could act as a home dashboard for data collected by a watch, scale, or other sensor. It also illustrates a possible direction for wearable software: less time opening separate apps and more emphasis on asking questions about trends in plain language.
Omnia was a concept demonstration at CES, not a standard retail product available for immediate purchase.
FaceHeart CardioMirror and the wider sensor trend
CES Unveiled included FaceHeart’s CardioMirror, an example of interest in contactless or screen-based health assessment. The trend matters to watch enthusiasts because it shows manufacturers looking beyond the traditional wrist sensor package of optical heart-rate readings, movement data, and occasional spot checks.

A demonstration does not establish that a health-monitoring concept matches a clinically validated device. Buyers should check validation, regulatory status, supported measurements, and the conditions in which readings are accurate.
The Electric Salt Spoon
The Kirin Holdings Electric Salt Spoon was designed to create a stronger salty taste while using less sodium. For smartwatch readers, its significance is conceptual: health technology is increasingly trying to influence behavior, not merely record it.
A watch can remind someone to stand, breathe, or take medication; a kitchen device can attempt to change how food tastes. The Salt Spoon is not proof that anyone can safely reduce medically necessary sodium intake.
AI everywhere—but not automatically on your wrist
AI was CES 2025’s dominant theme. Samsung introduced Vision AI for its 2025 Neo QLED, OLED, QLED, and The Frame televisions. Announced functions included Click to Search, Live Translate, Generative Wallpaper, SmartThings-connected Home Insights, and Pet and Family Care features using the television’s camera and speakers. These features were announced for Samsung’s 2025 product range, not as a universal update for every older Samsung TV.

Television features are not watch features, but they show a direction for connected-device software. A future watch may be more useful when it can understand context from a home, phone, car, or television rather than acting as an isolated screen.
Samsung also showed Ballie, a mobile home companion robot able to project information, respond to users, and interact with connected-home devices. Samsung and Google Cloud later announced that Ballie would use Google Gemini for conversational interaction, with consumer availability announced for the United States and South Korea in summer 2025.
At CES, Ballie was a demonstration and future product, not a widely available retail gadget. “AI-powered” can refer to anything from an on-device model to a cloud assistant or a small software feature, so check what a product actually does.
Displays: the most interesting laptop was rollable
Lenovo presented the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, described as the first laptop with a rollable display. Its OLED screen expands from 14 inches to 16.7 inches using a button or gesture controls. Lenovo presented it as a product, not merely a concept, though the CES announcement did not mean immediate mass availability.
A rollable laptop is not a watch, but flexible and variable-size displays are relevant to wearable design. The same engineering challenge—fitting a useful screen into a small space—applies to watches, glasses, and other compact devices.
Lenovo also announced the Legion Go S, an 8-inch Windows gaming handheld with a 120Hz display, variable refresh rate, Hall-effect joysticks, and up to 32GB of memory. Starting prices were announced at $729.99 for an initial configuration, $599.99 for additional Windows versions, and $499.99 for the SteamOS version. The SteamOS model was planned for May 2025, so those were not all launch-day options.
Lenovo described the SteamOS edition as the first officially licensed handheld powered by SteamOS. It was not a smartwatch story, but it illustrated CES’s continuing push toward specialized portable screens.

These graphics cards have little direct connection to a watch, but they show where AI and visual computing are being developed first: on hardware with substantial power and cooling. A wrist device has the opposite constraints, so many advanced AI functions may rely on a phone or cloud service rather than run entirely on the watch.
AMD and Intel’s next mobile chips
AMD announced the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, a 16-core/32-thread Zen 5 desktop processor with boost speeds up to 5.7GHz, 144MB of total cache, and a 170-watt TDP. It also announced the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and second-generation Ryzen Z2 chips for handheld gaming PCs. AMD expected the desktop X3D processors in the first quarter of 2025; CES was an announcement, not a retail launch.
Intel expanded its Core Ultra range with additional 200H, 200HX, and 200U mobile processors, more 200S desktop options, and vPro versions of Core Ultra 200V systems. Intel said 200H and 200U computers would begin appearing in February 2025, with 200HX systems planned for the first half of the year.
Intel’s announcements also came with a warning for anyone shopping for an “AI” device: AI PC branding did not mean every Copilot+ feature was available automatically. Features depended on the processor, Windows version, Microsoft updates, and manufacturer configuration. The same principle applies to AI watches.

Roborock Saros Z70
The Roborock Saros Z70 combined a robot vacuum with a foldable five-axis OmniGrip arm designed to identify and move small objects such as socks, tissues, towels, and sandals.
Roborock specified a body height of 7.98cm, suction of 22,000Pa, and a maximum object weight of 300g. The Z70 was not a general-purpose household robot: its arm had defined object types and a strict weight limit.
Product demonstrations often show the most impressive possible interaction, while everyday performance depends on supported objects, lighting, software, and recovery from failures.
Spicerr and the intelligent kitchen
Spicerr demonstrated an AI-assisted spice dispenser using capsules, recipe recommendations, inventory tracking, and controlled dispensing. It debuted at CES and later launched on Kickstarter on February 25, 2025.

This was a startup and crowdfunding product, not a mainstream kitchen appliance already available at the show. A watch could eventually serve as an alert, control surface, or reminder for connected-home devices, but that was not a feature announced for Spicerr at CES.

Honda 0 Series
Honda unveiled production-oriented prototypes of the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV, together with ASIMO OS, the operating system planned for the 0 Series.
Honda said production versions of the 0 SUV and 0 Saloon would enter North America beginning in 2026, followed by other global markets. The CES vehicles were prototypes. Honda also discussed Level 3 automated-driving ambitions, but those were development goals—not proof that unrestricted eyes-off driving was available in the demonstrated cars.
Software-defined vehicles are relevant to watches because cars, phones, and wearables are increasingly expected to share identity, notifications, navigation, and health or attention information. Check exactly what a device can control and whether a feature requires a particular phone or subscription.

Sony Honda Mobility presented the AFEELA 1 at CES 2025 and said orders would begin during 2025. That plan is no longer current.
On March 25, 2026, Sony Honda Mobility announced that it was discontinuing development and launch of the AFEELA 1 and its second model. Reservation fees for current California reservation holders were to be refunded. A current account of CES 2025 should describe AFEELA as an announced vehicle program that was later canceled, not as an upcoming EV.
XPeng AeroHT Land Aircraft Carrier
XPeng AeroHT showed the Land Aircraft Carrier, a road vehicle carrying a detachable electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing aircraft. It was not one conventional car that transformed into a flying machine.
XPeng AeroHT said it had more than 3,000 orders or intent orders and planned deliveries in 2026. Those were company claims and future targets, not evidence of completed consumer deliveries at CES.

Sony’s unexpected focus: content creation and entertainment
Sony did not announce a new PlayStation console at CES 2025. Instead, it highlighted entertainment, mobility, and content creation.
Its XYN platform was presented as a way to capture and reproduce real-world objects, human motion, and backgrounds for 3D computer-graphics production. Sony also demonstrated a The Last of Us location-based entertainment concept combining high-definition video, 3D sound, haptics, and scent technology.
Neither was a conventional consumer watch product. The entertainment demonstration was a proof of concept, not an announced theme-park attraction. Haptics, motion capture, and spatial interfaces could eventually influence smart glasses and wearables.

The bottom line for watch buyers
CES 2025 was a preview of the ecosystem around watches rather than a major smartwatch launch event. AI assistants, health dashboards, home robots, connected cars, and more capable portable displays point toward watches becoming control points for a larger network of devices. The practical lesson is to distinguish a prototype, planned release, pre-order, crowdfunding project, and shipping device—and to check health claims and AI feature requirements.
