The Chanel J12 BLEU X-RAY is a 38 mm watch made with blue sapphire crystal, not the matte blue ceramic used in other J12 BLEU models. AJHH’s April 2025 overview reports a hand-wound Calibre 3.1, an approximately 55-hour power reserve and 30 m water resistance. It also lists baguette-cut blue sapphires across the bracelet, bezel and dial. CHANEL’s official collection page confirms the broader J12 BLEU connection to Calibre 3.1, but a current official product specification, price and stock status for the X-RAY could not be confirmed.
What makes the J12 BLEU X-RAY different?
The X-RAY’s defining distinction is its transparent blue sapphire-crystal construction. AJHH identifies both the case and bracelet as blue sapphire crystal. That sets it apart from the J12 BLEU collection’s matte blue ceramic models: CHANEL describes the collection’s exclusive matte blue ceramic as the result of five years of research and development, but that material description should not be applied to the X-RAY. AJHH’s April 2025 model overview and CHANEL’s J12 BLEU collection page describe these distinct aspects of the watch and collection.

CHANEL says J12 BLEU launched in 2025 for the J12’s 25th anniversary. The collection’s blue is a design choice intended to illuminate the J12’s familiar black-and-white palette. In coverage by Marie Claire UK, CHANEL Watchmaking Creation Studio director Arnaud Chastaingt described the idea: “I dreamed of giving a colour to black, of illuminating it with blue.” The comment concerns the J12 BLEU color concept, not the X-RAY alone.
J12 BLEU X-RAY specifications
The figures below are reported by AJHH for the exact X-RAY model and were current as of April 2025. CHANEL’s collection page independently discusses the J12 BLEU Calibre 3.1 and its mechanism visible through sapphire crystal, but does not provide the full X-RAY specification set.

How the sapphire setting shapes the design
AJHH’s reported stone counts place blue baguette-cut sapphires across three parts of the watch: the bracelet, bezel and dial. CHANEL’s J12 BLEU collection page supports the general description of a sapphire-set bezel and shows the Calibre 3.1 mechanism through sapphire crystal. The exact component counts above, however, come from AJHH rather than a full official CHANEL X-RAY specification page.
The transparent blue material and visible movement make the X-RAY visually different from an opaque ceramic J12. It is best understood as a sapphire-crystal, gem-set interpretation of J12 BLEU rather than simply a blue-ceramic colorway.
Price and availability
A current price or in-stock status for the exact J12 BLEU X-RAY has not been verified. Prices associated with other J12 BLEU references should not be treated as the X-RAY’s price, and no current authorized-retailer listing is established here. For a purchase enquiry, ask CHANEL or an authorized watch retailer to confirm the exact reference, current availability and quotation.
What to confirm before comparing it with another J12 BLEU
Because the X-RAY and matte blue ceramic models differ in construction and movement, compare the exact reference rather than relying on the collection name alone. Check:
