Movement and openworked design
The L.U.C 96.17-S1 is an automatic movement with a micro-rotor positioned off-center rather than a full-size rotor covering much of the mechanism. Chopard specifies a 22-carat gold rotor and two stacked barrels. The openworked construction leaves parts of the movement visible from the front, while the sapphire caseback provides another view of the calibre.
Chopard lists approximately 65 hours of reserve. “Approximately” matters: this is the maker’s stated figure, not a promise of an independently measured result in every condition.
Price and availability
Chopard’s official US product page displayed a price of $30,500 and a limited-quantity register-interest message when checked. Its Ireland product page displayed €29,000. The prices are regional snapshots from different listings, not like-for-like currency conversions, and can change. The US page’s notice indicates the status shown there at that time; it does not establish stock at every boutique.
Time+Tide’s video search-result description dated 8 April 2024 reported the watch’s release at Watches & Wonders 2024 and an initial US price of $26,500. That is secondary reporting and a launch-era figure; it is distinct from the later $30,500 shown on Chopard’s US page.

- Start with Chopard: consult the official US product page for manufacturer specifications and direct availability enquiries. At the time checked, it offered a register-interest route rather than confirming general stock.
- Ask an authorized retailer: Wempe’s US listing for reference 298630-3001 identifies Wempe as an official concessionaire and offers showroom consultation. It displayed $30,500 when checked; confirm availability and final terms with the retailer.
Wempe’s listing gives the case height as 8.03 mm, while Chopard specifies 8 mm. For the manufacturer’s stated specification, use Chopard’s figure. Wempe also lists a two-year manufacturer warranty and an additional one-year retailer warranty; confirm current warranty terms directly before purchase.
Warranty and care
Chopard’s US page links to instructions for use and says registration on its dedicated platform extends the original International Warranty to five years. Check the warranty terms and registration conditions to confirm eligibility and the steps required. For routine care, use the maker’s instructions rather than assuming a water-resistance rating removes the need for proper maintenance.
What the specifications do not tell you
The published listings establish the model’s stated dimensions, materials, movement details, water-resistance rating and displayed prices. They do not establish measured rate accuracy, real-world durability, on-wrist comfort or independent test results. Those qualities should not be inferred from the specification sheet alone.
The model’s exact reference is useful when checking listings: Alpine Eagle watches are not interchangeable simply because their names are similar. The available sources do not establish a complete comparison with every other Alpine Eagle version, so assess any alternative by its own reference and published specifications.
