The Mountain Glow ivory-dial model, reference 298623-3003, is listed at $31,000 on Chopard’s US site. Its COSC certification, Poinçon de Genève hallmark and finely finished movement make the “luxury” proposition specific; its sports-watch character is a matter of design and stated specifications, not evidence of tested sports performance.
What makes the Alpine Eagle 41 XPS ultra-thin?
Chopard lists the complete watch at 8 mm thick, with a 41 mm case diameter. The movement inside, caliber L.U.C 96.40-L, is 3.30 mm thick. Those figures describe different things: the 3.30 mm measurement is for the caliber alone, not the finished watch. Chopard’s US listing for reference 298623-3003 supplies the dimensions.

The bracelet is integrated into the case rather than attached by conventional projecting lugs. Chopard says slimmer links near the clasp and a revised taper help preserve the watch’s profile. Its comfort-fit extension can add up to 5 mm of adjustment, according to the manufacturer; that is a useful provision for fine-tuning fit, not a substitute for trying the bracelet on.
How the watch makes its luxury case
A thin automatic movement
The L.U.C 96.40-L is an automatic caliber with a 22-carat gold micro-rotor and Chopard’s Twin Technology: two coaxial barrels. Chopard specifies approximately 65 hours of power reserve, hours and minutes, small seconds, and stop seconds. The movement is listed with 176 parts, 29 jewels and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). Its flat balance spring and bridges decorated with Côtes de Genève are among the technical and finishing details Chopard identifies.

Chopard says the caliber is developed, produced and assembled in its Haute Horlogerie workshops. It also specifies COSC chronometer certification and the Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark. These are manufacturer-stated credentials, not independent measurements of this particular watch’s accuracy or a guarantee of how it will perform in an individual’s use.
Dial, case and materials
Reference 298623-3003 has a Mountain Glow dial, which Chopard describes as an ivory tone inspired by sunrise light on snowy Alpine peaks. Its radiating pattern takes inspiration from an eagle’s iris. The hands, numerals and hour markers are ethical white gold with Grade X1 Super-LumiNova, according to Chopard.
The case and bracelet are made of Lucent Steel. The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève reports that the XPS case and integrated bracelet use Lucent Steel made from 80% recycled steel; that recycled-content figure is attributable to GPHG, rather than Chopard’s product listing. GPHG’s Alpine Eagle 41 XPS profile provides that material detail.
What its sports-watch specifications do—and do not—say
Chopard lists 100 m water resistance, a screw-down crown, sapphire crystal over the dial and a see-through sapphire caseback. These specifications give the watch a more capable design brief than a purely dress-oriented ultra-thin watch, but they are not independent test results or a blanket assurance of suitability for swimming, diving or any other activity. Follow the manufacturer’s guidance for the watch and have its water resistance maintained and checked as appropriate.

The Alpine Eagle line also has a sports-watch lineage in its design story: Chopard traces it to the St Moritz watch created in 1980 by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, now the company’s Co-President. The XPS is the thinner, more refined expression of that integrated-bracelet proposition. Its stated specifications support describing it as sporty in design; they do not establish performance in sport.

Who the Alpine Eagle 41 XPS is for
- Consider it if you want an integrated-bracelet watch with a slim 8 mm case, a high-end automatic movement and manufacturer-stated Geneva and COSC credentials.
- Compare the references if dial color is the deciding factor: 298623-3001 is Monte Rosa Pink; 298623-3003 is Mountain Glow ivory.
- Look elsewhere if you need independently verified accuracy or activity-specific performance evidence. The published product specifications do not provide either.
Chopard calls the watch a combination of “ultra thin design, high precision, and exceptional finishing.” That is the brand’s characterization. The verifiable basis for the pitch is unusually concrete for a thin integrated-bracelet watch: an 8 mm overall profile, the 3.30 mm L.U.C caliber, a 65-hour stated reserve, and specified certification and hallmark credentials.
