What is reference 168604-9001?
Reference 168604-9001 is the L.U.C Full Strike Sapphire, a manually wound mechanical minute repeater in a 42.5 mm case. Chopard limits this edition to five pieces. The brand’s product page lists sapphire and ethical white gold in its case/dial materials field and describes the case, crown and dial as cut from sapphire blocks. The see-through caseback is also sapphire crystal.
At 11.55 mm thick, the watch houses the 7.97 mm-thick L.U.C 08.01-L2 movement. Its display comprises central hours and minutes, small seconds and a power-reserve indicator; the minute repeater is the watch’s chiming complication.

Chopard’s US product page listed the 168604-9001 at $456,500 when accessed on October 8, 2026. That is a regional, time-sensitive listed price—not evidence of a universal price, a completed sale or the price at another location. How does the Full Strike Sapphire minute repeater work?
A minute repeater sounds the time on demand. Chopard’s L.U.C 08.01-L2 has a separate barrel for its striking mechanism, and Chopard says it can sound the longest time indication—12:59—twelve times. The available official specifications do not provide a measured sound level or independent assessment of the chime’s tone.
The design distinction is the sound-producing structure. Chopard describes the gongs and sapphire crystal as a single monobloc, so the sapphire component serves both as the visible front crystal and as part of the striking system. Chopard calls the L.U.C 08.01-L the first manually wound minute-repeater movement to use this arrangement; that is the manufacturer’s claim.

Chopard’s official video description says the original Full Strike was presented in 2016 and reports more than six years and 17,000 hours of development. Those are Chopard’s figures for the Full Strike project, reported in 2022; they are not independently audited and should not be read as development time solely for this five-piece Sapphire edition. Chopard also says the original Full Strike received the Aiguille d’Or at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève the following year. That award history refers to the original model, not specifically to reference 168604-9001.
