The MB&F M.A.D.1S is a 42 mm automatic watch in the brand’s M.A.D.Editions line, with a single-cylinder time display, a La Joux-Perret movement and a 15 mm case. Its slimmer profile distinguishes it from earlier M.A.D.1 editions, while its original Ice Blue, Purple and later “Grow Your Dreams” versions differ in access history and details. What is the MB&F M.A.D.1S?
The M.A.D.1S is part of M.A.D.Editions, a separate MB&F line that brings the brand’s mechanical-art aesthetic to a more accessible offering. It is not presented by MB&F as one of its Horological Machines. The manufacturer describes the M.A.D.1S as the fifth edition in the M.A.D.Editions story, unveiled at Geneva Watch Days in 2024. Its unusual display puts the time on a rotating cylinder rather than presenting it in the conventional dial-and-hands layout. The “S” signals a slimmer case and a single-cylinder arrangement, replacing the two-cylinder display of previous M.A.D.1 editions.
How is the M.A.D.1S different from the M.A.D.1?
The key changes are the display architecture, case profile and movement. MB&F says the M.A.D.1S is 20% slimmer than earlier M.A.D.1 editions, with a listed case height of 15 mm. It also moves to one display cylinder and a new Swiss-made La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement. The 20% comparison is MB&F’s own, not an independent measurement.

Which M.A.D.1S editions are there?
The editions have different colours, strap details and access histories. Do not assume the general product-page strap description applies to every collaboration variant.

What changes on Grow Your Dreams?
MB&F describes the Yinka Ilori collaboration as a trio called Sun, Nature and Water. The official Grow Your Dreams page specifies rubber straps with a stamped leaf pattern, interchangeable mismatched-colour straps and an additional white strap. The collaboration FAQ says the variants share technical specifications and differ in colourway, rotor, bezel accent and strap set. How do I get a M.A.D.1S?
MB&F says it used a raffle for the original public Ice Blue edition instead of drops, retail queues or long waiting lists, to give interested buyers time to register. That explains the original access approach; it does not confirm that a raffle is currently open. Purple was reserved for Friends and Tribe members, while the later collaboration has its own edition history.
Current price, stock, raffle access and authorized third-party listings are not established here. Time and Watches reported a launch-era price of CHF 2,900 plus VAT for the original M.A.D.1S in 2024; that historical figure is not a current quote and should not be applied to the Grow Your Dreams versions. For a purchase inquiry, start with MB&F’s current M.A.D.1S information and verify that any third-party seller is authorized before paying.

What the available information does—and does not—tell you
The published specifications establish the case dimensions, movement data and stated water resistance, and MB&F describes the display and edition differences. They do not establish how comfortable the watch feels on a particular wrist, how easily its cylinder can be read in everyday conditions, its timekeeping performance, or its durability. Those questions require actual wear or independent testing; no such results are claimed here.
