What is the Chopard L.U.C Time Traveler One Black?
Reference 168574-3008 is Chopard’s black, limited-edition version of the L.U.C Time Traveler One. Its ceramicised-titanium case, black dial and black rubber strap with grey stitching give the world timer a monochrome, contemporary look. Chopard lists a titanium pin buckle and sapphire crystals.
The case measures 42 mm across and 12.09 mm thick. Water resistance is 50 metres. These are the manufacturer’s published specifications, not a claim that the watch is suitable for every water activity. Chopard’s US product page lists the edition as limited to 250 pieces.
How does the world-time display work?
The central display shows the destination city’s hours, minutes and seconds, along with its date. A city and time-zone display around the dial covers the principal 24 time zones. This gives the watch its world-time function while keeping local time and a second location’s time visible on the same dial.

Chopard equips the watch with its self-winding L.U.C 01.05-L movement. The movement is COSC-certified, runs at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), has 39 jewels and offers an approximately 60-hour power reserve. It also has stop-seconds, which halt the seconds hand when setting the time.
What is it like to read and wear?
In a week-long wear report, Time+Tide Managing Editor Jamie Weiss describes the dial’s concentric rings, contrasting shades and surface finishes as useful for separating its information. He found the layout reasonably easy to understand, though less immediately legible than more classic world timers. That is a reviewer’s assessment, not a formal readability test.

Weiss says the luminous markers help with local time in the dark, but that reading another city’s time is harder in low light. He also found the compressor-style crowns straightforward for adjusting the city wheel and local time or date. His design impression was monochromatic and modern, with a character that sits between sporty and dressy.
One trade-off he noted is the exhibition caseback: Weiss would have preferred a less smoked view to see more of the movement finishing. His observations appear in the Time+Tide review, published July 31, 2024.

Chopard lists the watch with a black rubber strap featuring grey stitching. Time+Tide reports a 20 mm lug width and shows the watch on a grey Artem HydroFlex strap. That is a documented alternative pairing, not the strap supplied by Chopard; check the end fit of any replacement strap before buying.
What does it cost, and how available is it?
Chopard’s US product page displays $20,300 and identifies the watch as a 250-piece limited edition. Price and availability can vary by market and change over time; Chopard says inventory changes frequently and recommends contacting a boutique to confirm stock.

Time+Tide’s July 2024 review listed US$17,600, but that is a historical figure, not the current US listing. Its article also conflicts on edition size: the prose says 200 pieces while its specification table says 250. Chopard’s current product page is the clearer source for the current US price and stated edition size.

The Time Traveler One Black is aimed at someone who wants a mechanical world-time complication in a deliberately dark, modern design, rather than the more traditional look of many world timers. Its central destination-time display and 24-zone city ring present multiple time references together; the layered dial rewards some orientation rather than offering the simplest possible glance read.

When comparing it with another world timer, focus on how each watch displays cities and the second time zone, case dimensions and material, movement certification and reserve, water resistance, strap fit, edition size, and current local price. The available specifications here establish Chopard’s figures, but do not provide a like-for-like competitor data set.
