Its official handbook lists a 41 mm case, 38 g weight and 15 ATM water-resistance rating. The model was designed with the Parachute Regiment in mind; the specifications below come from Christopher Ward’s C63 Colchester Owner’s Handbook.
What makes the C63 Colchester different?
Its defining combination is lightweight carbon construction and a crown that retracts flush against the case. Christopher Ward describes the case as injected carbon and the dial as matte, semi-skeletonised forged carbon. The contrasting carbon textures give the watch its distinctive appearance, while the crown design is intended to reduce the chance of it digging into the wrist during strenuous activity.
The handbook identifies the C63 Colchester as a Swiss-made, self-winding mechanical chronometer with a date calendar, central hacking seconds, an anti-shock system, luminous hands and indices, and an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The screw-down exhibition caseback has a central coin bearing the Parachute Regiment heraldic badge.

The 38 g figure is the handbook’s listed weight. It does not establish how the watch will sit on a particular wrist; wrist shape, strap choice and fit affect the wearing experience.

Is the C63 Colchester COSC certified?
Yes. Christopher Ward lists the movement as a Sellita SW200 COSC. The handbook specifies a maximum power reserve of 38 hours, a beat rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), and a stated timing tolerance of -4/+6 seconds per day. These are the manufacturer’s specifications, not a guarantee that every individual watch will maintain the same rate in every condition.
The movement is automatic: wearing the watch allows its rotor to replenish the mainspring. If the watch has stopped, the handbook says approximately 20 turns of the crown will provide power to restart it. The 38-hour reserve is the stated maximum when fully wound.

How does the retractable crown work?
The crown has positions for winding, setting the date and setting the time. Push it fully back against the case after use, and ensure it is tightened before the watch goes into water; the handbook says this is necessary to maintain water resistance.
Avoid changing the date between 20:00 and 02:00. The manual warns that the watch’s gearing may already be engaged in the date change during that interval.

Is the C63 Colchester suitable for swimming or snorkelling?
The handbook rates it at 15 ATM (150 metres) and describes that rating as suitable for open-water snorkelling. It does not state that the watch is suitable for scuba diving, so the rating should not be turned into a scuba-use claim.
Water resistance is not permanent or independent of use. The handbook warns that arm movement, impacts during diving or water sports, temperature changes, and the condition of the seals can affect it. Hot baths, showers and saunas are also discouraged. A used watch with unknown service history should not be assumed to remain water-tight simply because its original rating is 15 ATM.

What strap size does it take?
The handbook lists a 22 mm strap width and describes quick-release pins for removing and fitting the strap. That makes a compatible 22 mm strap a potential replacement, but width alone does not guarantee that every aftermarket strap, end shape or clasp will fit. Check the attachment and lug fit before buying.

In a 21 February 2022 report, WATCHPRO USA described the Colchester as an extension of Christopher Ward’s military collection based on the C63 Sealander Elite. The report quoted Christopher Ward CEO and co-founder Mike France explaining that the Elite was chosen as a template because weight, durability, strength, comfort and technicality mattered to the regiment.
What should owners know about service and warranty terms?
The handbook recommends service every three to four years. It also describes a 60|60 Guarantee with 60-day returns for an unused watch and a 60-month movement guarantee, and says third-party service or repair voids that guarantee. These are the terms stated in the handbook; confirm current terms and the individual watch’s warranty status before relying on them.
