Its launch-era lineup comprised the C65 Dune Automatic, C65 Dune GMT and C65 Dune Bronze COSC. The specifications below come from Christopher Ward’s model handbooks; the design and wear impressions are attributed to reviewer Vincent Deschamps at Fratello.
What is the Christopher Ward Dune?
The C65 Dune is Christopher Ward’s field-watch collection, named for France’s Dune du Pilat in Aquitaine. The brand’s handbook describes the watches as suited to settings from expeditions to a morning commute. CEO and co-founder Mike France summarized the intended character this way: “Calling Dune a field watch explains it,” he says. “But it doesn’t do it justice. Yes, it’s all-purpose and fuss-free, but it’s sophisticated, too.” (Christopher Ward C65 Dune Automatic Owner’s Handbook)
The same handbook calls the Dune the first Christopher Ward watch to use an applied twin-flags logo and says its glass-box domed crystal references sports watches of the 1960s and 1970s. Fratello’s February 21, 2023 review documents three launch variants and 25 possible combinations of dial, strap and bracelet. That is a historical launch-era count, not confirmation that all combinations remain available.

Automatic: the straightforward daily-wear option
The Automatic combines a three-hand display and date with the Sellita SW200-1. Its handbook specifies 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), a stated timing tolerance of -20/+20 seconds per day, and a stated 38-hour power reserve. The case is stainless steel, with a screw-down crown, display caseback, glass-box sapphire crystal and X1 Super-LumiNova-filled hands and indexes. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.
GMT: a second time zone at a glance
The GMT adds a fourth hand that reads against a raised 24-hour scale inside the dial. Christopher Ward’s handbook lists the Sellita SW330-2 and a power reserve of up to 56 hours. Its 200-piece edition count applies only to the limited-edition GMT covered by that handbook, not to the Dune collection as a whole.
Bronze COSC: bronze with a certified movement
Fratello identifies the Bronze COSC’s movement as a COSC-certified SW200-1 and reports a 38-hour reserve. The case is bronze, while the caseback and some bracelet components are steel. Check the exact reference for thickness and other specifications rather than applying one dimension to every Bronze version.
Is the C65 Dune a good size for a smaller wrist?
At 38 mm across and roughly 44 mm lug-to-lug in the steel Automatic and GMT handbooks, the Dune has compact stated dimensions. Fratello reviewer Vincent Deschamps singled out the proportions and said they could suit small-to-medium wrists particularly well. That is his assessment, not a guarantee of fit: wrist shape, strap or bracelet, and personal preference matter, so comparing lug-to-lug length against a watch that already fits is useful.

Deschamps also praised the mixed marker layout and the dial’s dimensional effect. On the GMT, he noted the red-tipped hand’s contrast against the black dial. One optical trade-off he observed is that the domed crystal can distort GMT-scale numerals when viewed off-axis. These are impressions from his review, not claims of independent testing.

What strap fits the C65 Dune?
The Automatic and GMT handbooks specify a 20 mm strap width. Christopher Ward explains that its straps and bracelets with quick-release pins can be detached and reattached without a tool. Fratello also reports 20 mm lug spacing and discusses strap and bracelet alternatives.
A third-party 20 mm strap is not automatically compatible: confirm the exact watch’s lug attachment and spring-bar arrangement, as well as the strap’s width and thickness. If the strap does not use compatible quick-release pins, a spring-bar tool may be needed. Choose based on the specific reference, preferred material, wrist fit and whether you are comfortable changing spring bars.
What should you check before buying?
- Choose the complication: the Automatic has a date; the GMT adds a fourth hand and 24-hour scale for another time zone.
- Confirm material and reference: the cited lineup includes stainless-steel and bronze cases, and dimensions can vary by variant.
- Check the exact configuration: strap and bracelet choices affect the wearing experience, and the launch-era combinations reported in 2023 do not establish present-day stock.
- Verify current details: the sources here do not establish current catalog status, price, regional availability or inventory. Consult Christopher Ward’s current regional product pages for those changing details.
For historical context only, Fratello reported launch-era prices from €895 to €1,560 in February 2023, varying by model and strap or bracelet. Those figures are not current pricing.

How does the bracelet wear?
Deschamps liked the bracelet’s construction and its tool-free micro-adjustment, but found the clasp too large. That combination is worth weighing if you are choosing between bracelet and strap: the adjustment feature may be convenient, while the clasp’s size may not suit every wearer.
