The Ollech & Wajs OW M-52B AF is a Swiss-made automatic tool watch whose defining feature is a large B-52 silhouette across the dial. It pairs that aviation motif with a 39.5 mm steel case, a stated 300 m water-resistance rating and a customized Soprod movement. The aircraft graphic is also a practical trade-off: one hands-on reviewer found it could obscure the hands at certain times.
What the OW M-52B AF is—and what it looks like
Ollech & Wajs presents the M-52B AF as a modern tribute to its vintage B-905, a watch associated with US airmen serving in Vietnam. The modern model is not a detail-for-detail reproduction: its dial prominently displays a Boeing B-52 Stratofortress silhouette, while its bidirectional bezel is aircraft-inspired and PVD-coated. The silhouette gives the watch an identity that stands apart from more conventional tool-watch dials. It also occupies much of the visual field rather than serving as a small logo or background detail. That matters if fast, unobstructed time-reading is a priority.
How readable is the B-52 dial?
Fratello reviewer Michael Stockton wrote after spending several weeks with the watch that “the outline of the B-52 dominates the dial, and, admittedly, it can obscure the hands at certain times.” This is one reviewer’s reported experience, not the result of a controlled legibility test. It nonetheless identifies the central compromise: the graphic is the M-52B AF’s main attraction, but can compete with the hands for attention.

For a buyer drawn to the watch’s aviation theme, that may be an acceptable exchange. If quick, at-a-glance reading is more important than a distinctive dial, examine the hands against the graphic in person or in detailed photographs before deciding.
Case, crystal and water resistance
The manufacturer lists a 39.5 mm case diameter, 12.5 mm thickness and 48 mm lug-to-lug measurement. It specifies a brushed 316L stainless-steel case, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment, screw-down crown and caseback, and a bidirectional 60-minute friction bezel. There is a small measurement difference in published accounts. Fratello gives a 47.5 mm lug-to-lug figure and describes the thickness as about 14 mm including the domed crystal, or 12.5 mm without it. The manufacturer lists 48 mm lug-to-lug and 12.5 mm thickness. Those figures may reflect different measurement conventions; they should be kept attributed to their sources rather than treated as a single exact measurement.
Movement and functions
The manufacturer specifies a customized automatic Soprod P024, assembled for Ollech & Wajs and adjusted in three positions. Published details include a date, hacking seconds, 25 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a 38-hour power reserve. Fratello additionally reports hand-winding and a quick-set date. These are published specifications; no independent timing or power-reserve test is established by the sources cited here.

Strap and wearing experience
The watch is supplied on a 20 mm black nylon RAF strap. Ollech & Wajs also offers a 20 mm M-Heritage steel mesh bracelet. Stockton said he found the watch hefty on the supplied strap and preferred the mesh bracelet for comfort. That is his personal wearing impression, not a comparative comfort test. The 39.5 mm diameter and roughly 48 mm lug-to-lug figure are useful starting points for fit comparisons, but they do not settle how the watch will wear on a particular wrist. The overall thickness, strap choice and the wearer’s tolerance for a substantial tool watch also matter.

The B-905 connection—and a disputed aircraft detail
The modern dial clearly depicts a B-52. Published accounts disagree, however, about the aircraft shown on the vintage B-905 that inspired it. Ollech & Wajs and Monochrome describe the older watch as carrying a B-52 silhouette; Fratello says the sole known archived example depicts a KC-135 Stratotanker, an aircraft associated with refueling B-52s. The manufacturer says it is temporarily unable to sell directly to customers in the United States and directs them to authorized US dealers. Both that policy and dealer availability can change. The brand says the initial numbered release comprised 56 watches, with limited quantities of unnumbered pieces planned in later years; Fratello reported the numbered run sold out in 2024. Neither account establishes current inventory.

Who should consider the M-52B AF?
The watch makes the most sense for someone who wants an aviation-history design that is immediately recognizable and values its substantial mechanical and water-resistance specifications. The key question is whether the B-52 graphic’s visual impact outweighs the possibility that it can interfere with reading the hands. Strap comfort is another personal consideration, especially given the reviewer’s preference for the optional mesh bracelet.
When comparing it with another watch, focus on case diameter and lug-to-lug fit, total thickness, dial legibility, movement and service details, stated water resistance, strap comfort, price, warranty and current regional availability. The listed water resistance and movement figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent test findings.
