The Christopher Ward C65 Trident is a family of watches, so its specifications depend on the exact variant. The standard C65 Trident Automatic covered by Christopher Ward’s owner’s handbook has a Sellita SW200-3 automatic movement, a 38-hour power reserve, a 41 mm steel case and 150 m water resistance. The hand-wound C65 Trident Diver and the SH21 limited edition are different watches with different movements and features.
What is the Christopher Ward C65 Trident?
C65 Trident is a model family rather than a single specification. The standard Automatic is distinct from the earlier hand-wound C65 Trident Diver and from the C65 Trident Diver SH21 Limited Edition. Confirm the model name and reference before applying specifications or buying parts; details from one variant do not automatically carry over to another.

Is the C65 Trident Automatic hand-wound or automatic?
The standard C65 Trident Automatic is self-winding and uses the Sellita SW200-3. Fratello’s 2019 review describes it as an update to the hand-wound C65 Trident Diver, adding an automatic movement, a date and raised circular indexes. The earlier Diver’s hand-wound mechanism should not be confused with the Automatic’s movement.

How does the SH21 limited edition differ?
The C65 Trident Diver SH21 Limited Edition is a separate model. Fratello’s hands-on review identifies it as a 150-piece edition with a hand-wound SH21 movement, a 120-hour reserve, date, small seconds and power-reserve indication. That reserve and feature set do not describe the standard SW200-3 Automatic. The review reports a 41 mm case and 15 ATM water resistance for the SH21 edition.
How to wind and set the C65 Trident Automatic
Christopher Ward’s handbook gives these operating directions for the covered Automatic configuration:
Rank #2
- WATER-RESISTANT: these water-resistant men's dive watches are ISO scuba-approved to depths of 200 meters
- AUTOMATIC: these self-winding, automatic men's watches are powered by your movement, with a power reserve of 41 hours
- STAINLESS STEEL: features a durable 43.8mm stainless steel watch case and bracelet.
- LUMIBRITE DISPLAY: this men's automatic watch features a highly-legible display with LumiBrite hands and markers
- 4R35 CALIBER: equipped with the reliable caliber 4R35 automatic movement, this accurate men's watch keeps precise time
- After a period of non-use, wind the crown clockwise until resistance begins.
- Pull the crown to position 2 to correct the date. Do not correct the date between 20:00 and 02:00.
- Pull the crown to position 3 to set the time.
- Push the crown fully back to position 1 after adjustment. The handbook says it should sit flush to the case to maintain water resistance.
What strap fits the C65 Trident?
The Automatic handbook lists a 22 mm strap width. Before ordering a replacement, verify the exact reference and attachment arrangement, and whether the individual watch is fitted with a strap or bracelet. A model-family name alone does not establish that every C65 variant uses the same fitting.

Model specifications describe the watch when built; they cannot establish the condition or present-day sealing of an individual used example. The 150 m rating is not proof that a pre-owned watch remains suitable for immersion. The handbook says the crown should sit flush to maintain water resistance, but current water resistance depends on the specific watch’s condition.

Review impressions are useful context, not guarantees for every watch or wearer. WatchPaper reviewer Michael Vinovich praised the legibility and the case finishing and shape of the blue-dial sample he reviewed (WatchPaper review). Fratello reviewer Gerard Nijenbrinks also described wearing the Automatic on a 25-day journey in his review. Neither account establishes how a particular pre-owned example will fit or perform.
The cited reviews are historical; they do not establish current production status, list price or stock. Check current seller information for any purchase decision, and do not treat old review prices as current quotes.
