The Christopher Ward C7 Rapide is a motorsport-inspired watch family, not one single specification. The handbooks document quartz chronographs with different movements, and Christopher Ward’s collection video also describes automatic models. Identify the exact version before comparing calibres, case details, straps or service needs.
What is a Christopher Ward C7 Rapide?
The C7 Rapide is Christopher Ward’s motorsport-inspired watch collection. Its official collection video describes both quartz and automatic models, so the family name alone does not tell you which movement a particular watch uses.
A specialist retrospective dates the Mk I to 2008 and the Mk II to 2012, followed by a substantial redesign in 2017. That retrospective informally calls the redesign “Mk3,” but says this was not Christopher Ward’s official designation. Treat the dates and generational labels as the specialist source’s account, not official model nomenclature.
The available documentation establishes historical variants, but does not establish whether any C7 Rapide remains available new today.

What movement is in the C7 Rapide?
It depends on the model. The two official handbooks cover quartz chronographs and specify different calibres; the maker’s video also mentions automatic models. Check the caseback, dial, paperwork or exact reference rather than assuming every C7 Rapide shares a movement.
| Documented model | Movement | Documented case and features |
|---|---|---|
| C7 Rapide Chronograph | 22-jewel Swiss quartz, ETA 251.272 | 42 mm diameter; 10.7 mm height; 316L stainless steel; convex anti-reflective sapphire; 10 ATM water resistance. The handbook states accuracy of +20 / -10 seconds per month. Its 80–160 g weight range reflects different configurations, not one universal weight. |
| C7 Rapide Chronograph Mk II | Swiss-made quartz chronograph, Ronda 3540.D | 42 mm diameter; 10.7 mm height; 316L stainless steel; anti-reflective sapphire; tachymeter; 10 ATM (100 metres) water resistance. |
These are handbook specifications, not results from an independent test. A stated water-resistance rating describes the documented model, not the present condition of a particular used watch.

What size strap fits a C7 Rapide Mk II?
The Mk II handbook lists a 22 mm black leather strap option, as well as bracelet and rubber-strap configurations. That measurement supports looking for a 22 mm watch strap for a compatible Mk II reference, but it does not establish fit across every C7 Rapide. Before buying a replacement, confirm the exact reference and the attachment or end-link compatibility; strap width alone may not settle the fit.
What should you check when buying a used C7 Rapide?
Start by identifying the exact variant. A listing that says only “C7 Rapide” leaves important questions unanswered: the movement, generation and strap fit can differ. Use these checks when assessing a watch:

- 【Automatic Watch for Men Chronograph Wristwatch】Men's watches features crafted from premium Stainless steel material(available in Gold and Silver, diameter;41MM,thick;12MM ) and finished with alternating polishing and brushing techniques, resulting in a refined luster and durable texture. The dial is available in a variety of colors (Green, Blue, Sky Blue, Black, White, Gold, and Grey), while the stainless steel bracelet (wide;20MM ) exudes classic elegance without sacrificing a sporty feel
- 【Excellent Mechanical Automatic winding movement 】Equipped with a high-precision balance wheel, the meticulously tuned movement ensures accurate and stable timekeeping, sensitively sensing the wearer's subtle wrist movements and converting them into rotational power. A smooth winding mechanism guarantees a continuous and stable power reserve. Furthermore, it features a stop-seconds function (the seconds hand stops immediately when the crown is pulled out), allowing for precise time adjustment.
- 【Multifunctional Men Wrist Watch With Small Dial Design】The dial features a delicate sunburst and meteorite finish. enhancing visual depth. Each watch is equipped with independent windows for the day, month, 24-hour format, and date, arranged clearly and logically. It complements formal attire, business casual, and everyday wear with ease, making it an ideal choice for travel and daily wear. It helps you manage your time efficiently and exudes elegant style.
- 【Fixed Chronograph Bezel - Tachymeter Bezel】The chronograph bezel is a signature design element of racing-themed chronographs, blending sportiness, retro charm, and engineering aesthetics. It cleverly utilizes mathematical principles to transform speed calculations, which previously required cumbersome formulas, into intuitive pointer readings, perfectly embodying the harmonious integration of function and design, and fully showcasing the practicality and fun of mechanical watches.
- 【Waterproof watch and Luminous 】This watch boasts a 3 ATM (30 meters) water resistance rating, easily handling everyday splashes such as handwashing and face washing. A carefully designed luminescent coating ensures clear readability even in low-light conditions, allowing for quick and easy timekeeping.
- Reference and movement: Ask for clear photographs of the dial and caseback, along with any paperwork. Match the reference to the appropriate documentation; the Chronograph handbook names ETA 251.272, while the Mk II handbook names Ronda 3540.D.
- Chronograph operation: If the watch is a chronograph, check that the controls start, stop and reset the chronograph as expected. Ask whether it has been serviced and whether any faults are known.
- Battery and service history: For the quartz Chronograph covered by its handbook, Christopher Ward recommends having a reputable watch repairer change the battery every two to three years. The same handbook warns that continuous chronograph use shortens battery life. Ask when the battery was last changed and who performed the work.
- Crown and water resistance: Inspect the crown and ask whether water resistance has been tested recently. The Mk II handbook says: “Make sure the crown is screwed down fully before putting your watch into water.” An older watch’s original rating does not prove that it remains water-resistant now; do not rely on it for water exposure without appropriate testing.
- Case, crystal and attachment: Check for visible damage or wear and confirm that the strap, bracelet or rubber option actually fits the reference being sold. For Mk II strap replacements, verify the 22 mm measurement and attachment details.
The older Chronograph handbook describes historical spare-parts and CW360 return and movement-guarantee arrangements. Those statements do not establish current service, parts or guarantee policy; check Christopher Ward’s current terms before relying on them.

Compare like with like: confirm the precise reference and generation first, then assess the movement, documented dimensions and included configuration. The handbooks document a 42 mm diameter and 10.7 mm height for both quartz chronographs covered here, but the movement specifications differ. The Mk II handbook is the source for the 22 mm strap option; do not generalise it to the full collection.
No current price or stock comparison is established here. For a pre-owned example, make the decision around the specific watch’s condition, service evidence and fit rather than treating the family name or original specifications as a guarantee.
