The Chronoswiss Open Gear ReSec Jungle (reference CH-6923-DGRBK) is built around a colorful, highly layered dial and an unusual seconds display: its hand sweeps across a semicircle from 4 to 8 o’clock over 30 seconds, then snaps back to begin again. It is a 44 mm limited-edition automatic with 100 m water resistance. In a hands-on review published in 2022, Fratello’s Dave Sergeant found the case substantial and the blue-green guilloché especially compelling in person; those impressions are his, not a fresh fit or legibility test.
What makes the Open Gear ReSec Jungle distinctive?
The defining feature is the dial: Chronoswiss describes it as a three-dimensional hybrid construction of 42 parts arranged in several layers. Handmade guilloché and CVD coating create its blue-green hues, intended to evoke a rainforest at blue hour. Black galvanised bridges frame skeletonised open-gear train wheels, making the mechanism part of the display rather than hiding it beneath a conventional dial.
The layout also departs from a standard watch display. The regulator-style arrangement separates the indications, while the retrograde seconds hand traces a half-circle from 4 to 8 o’clock. It takes 30 seconds to cross, then returns to its starting point. That repeating jump is the watch’s most conspicuous mechanical flourish. How does it wear?
The stainless-steel case measures 44 mm across; Fratello reports a thickness of 13.35 mm and an included black Cordura strap. That diameter gives the watch a substantial footprint, and Sergeant said it felt large on the wrist. Wrist shape and personal preference matter, but this is not a compact choice: anyone unsure about 44 mm should try the case on rather than infer fit from the dial’s visual balance.

Sergeant’s February 1, 2022 hands-on account emphasizes how the blue-green guilloché changed with the light and how strongly the dial stood out in person. He wrote, “There’s just no substitute, in my opinion,” in the context of seeing and handling the watch. That is a reviewer’s subjective reaction, not a controlled assessment of readability. The available sources do not establish measured accuracy, long-term durability, or legibility under standardized conditions.
Movement and practical specifications
Fratello identifies the automatic movement as Chronoswiss caliber C.301, based on the ETA 2892-A2 with a Chronoswiss module for the regulator and retrograde-seconds indications. Its review reports 33 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and a 42-hour power reserve. These movement figures are reported by Fratello, rather than independently measured here.

The official specification is 100 m / 10 ATM water resistance. It is a useful practical rating, but it does not by itself establish suitability for every water activity; follow the manufacturer’s guidance for use and care.
Price and availability depend on region
Chronoswiss’s international product page displayed CHF 11,000 when retrieved in 2026, while its EU page displayed €12,100. Fratello listed €9,800 in its February 2022 review. These are market- and date-specific references, not directly comparable current prices: the sources do not establish equivalent tax or pricing bases. The ReSec Jungle makes most sense for someone who wants the dial and its motion to dominate the experience. The layered guilloché, exposed gear elements, and half-minute retrograde sweep offer a distinctive alternative to a restrained, conventional layout. The trade-off is equally clear: the 44 mm case has a substantial presence, and a dial with several visual elements may not suit someone who prioritizes immediate, minimal readouts.
