Chronoswiss introduced the Small Second and Q-Repeater at Watches and Wonders 2025, but they serve very different purposes. The Small Second is a 40 mm automatic watch with a conventional small-seconds display; the 42 mm Q-Repeater is a limited quarter repeater that audibly indicates hours and quarter-hours. Their reported 2025 launch prices also place them far apart: €8,800–€9,400 for the Small Second variants and €42,500 for either Q-Repeater colorway.

How the Small Second and Q-Repeater differ

Feature Small Second Q-Repeater
Role Regular-line Modern Mechanical family, as described at launch Limited quarter repeater
Display or complication Small seconds at 9 o’clock On-demand audible indication of hours and quarter-hours, activated by a pusher at 10 o’clock
Case Stainless steel; 40 mm diameter and 11.5 mm profile Grade 5 titanium; 42 mm diameter and 16.2 mm height
Movement Automatic C.6000; power reserve not stated in the cited launch sources Automatic C.126; 35-hour power reserve and 21,600 A/h frequency
Dial variants Blue Orbit and Desert Scream and Blue Note
Water resistance 3 ATM/3 bar, according to launch coverage 3 bar
Reported launch price €8,800 for Desert; €9,400 for Blue Orbit, reported by Fratello Watches in 2025 €42,500 for either colorway, reported by Fratello Watches in 2025
Launch production status Described as regular-line models, not limited editions 25 pieces per colorway, reported by Fratello Watches in 2025

These are launch specifications and prices, not confirmation of current pricing or availability. Chronoswiss’s official Small Second announcement and official Q-Repeater announcement were published in March 2025; Fratello’s April 1, 2025 launch coverage reports prices and edition numbers.

What the Small Second offers

The Small Second begins Chronoswiss’s Modern Mechanical family. Its 40 mm stainless-steel case is 11.5 mm thick, and its design centers on a curved, layered dial rather than an audible complication. The small-seconds register sits at 9 o’clock.

Two dial treatments

  • Blue Orbit: Fratello describes a hand-guilloché dial with blue CVD coating.
  • Desert: Fratello describes a multilayer nano-printed dial with a hand-guilloché small-seconds subdial.

Both variants use the automatic C.6000 caliber. The cited launch material does not state a power-reserve figure for this movement, so a direct reserve comparison with the Q-Repeater is not available from these specifications.

What makes the Q-Repeater different

The Q-Repeater’s defining feature is sound. Pressing the pusher at 10 o’clock activates hammers that audibly indicate the hours and quarter-hours. That is a substantially different kind of complication from the Small Second’s continuously visible seconds register.

Chronoswiss fitted the Q-Repeater with its legacy automatic C.126 caliber, restored for this release according to Fratello. The manufacturer lists a 35-hour power reserve and a frequency of 21,600 A/h. The titanium case measures 42 mm across and 16.2 mm high, making it both wider and notably thicker than the Small Second.

Two limited colorways

The release names the Scream (reference CH-1163T-COL) and Blue Note (reference CH-1663T-BLSI). Fratello reported 25 pieces of each colorway and a €42,500 launch price for either. These figures describe the 2025 launch, not a current offer or confirmed stock.

Which one is the better fit?

  • Choose the Small Second if you want a conventional time display with small seconds, a slimmer 40 mm stainless-steel case, and a watch presented as part of Chronoswiss’s regular line.
  • Consider the Q-Repeater if the appeal is a mechanical striking complication, a restored C.126 movement, titanium construction, and a limited release. Its 16.2 mm height and reported launch price place it in a different practical and financial category.

Both are listed with 3 ATM/3 bar water resistance in launch coverage. That rating alone does not establish a suitable use for swimming; the cited announcements do not provide a use recommendation or explain the test conditions.
