The Moon-inspired Citizen Attesa HAKUTO-R collaboration is the three-model collection announced for March 7, 2024: BY1008-67L, CC4065-61Y and BY1009-64Y. The CC4065-61Y pairs GPS satellite timekeeping with a layered mother-of-pearl lunar dial; the other two use a calculated moon-age display and radio-controlled timekeeping. These are distinct designs, not a simple good-better-best range.
Which Attesa HAKUTO-R watches are Moon-inspired?
Citizen announced the trio on February 7, 2024, for release in Japan on March 7. The company described the design concept as the Moon sought by ispace’s HAKUTO-R lunar lander program. The models are BY1008-67L, CC4065-61Y and BY1009-64Y. Citizen’s February 2024 announcement identifies the collection and its original Japanese suggested retail prices and worldwide production limits.
“New release” is now historical wording: the announcement was in 2024. Citizen later announced another Attesa HAKUTO-R trio for November 2024, but that collection was themed around the blackness of outer space rather than the Moon. Its model numbers are AT8287-62E, CC4067-66E and CB0285-63E. Citizen’s October 2024 announcement describes that separate release.

CC4065-61Y: GPS timekeeping and a layered lunar dial
The CC4065-61Y is the collection’s GPS satellite-wave model. Its F950 movement receives time information from GPS satellites. Citizen said time-only reception takes as little as three seconds, describing this as “world-class”; that is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent measurement. The dial’s construction is the defining visual difference: Citizen layers a colored dial over a full mother-of-pearl dial to evoke lunar patterning. Recrystallized titanium appears in the bracelet’s center links. The higher launch price reflects a different movement and material/dial treatment; it does not establish that this model is objectively better for every wearer.

BY1008-67L and BY1009-64Y: calculated moon age and radio control
These two models share the collection’s lunar-age approach. Citizen says ink is used to create both color and relief on their mechanical-looking dials, adding depth to the lunar pattern. Their Luna Program uses received date information to calculate that day’s lunar age, which is shown on the moon-phase display.
Both use Eco-Drive radio-controlled movements rather than the GPS satellite-wave F950. Direct Flight supports time and calendar display across 24 time differences. The two models have the same Japanese launch suggested price, but different announced worldwide limits: 2,400 for BY1008-67L and 2,100 for BY1009-64Y.

What the HAKUTO-R connection means
Citizen says it began supporting ispace’s HAKUTO-R program as a corporate partner in 2019. Its announcements say Super Titanium was used for components of the lander’s landing legs. That is a partnership and materials connection; it does not mean these watches traveled to the Moon.
The Moon motif also sits within a longer Attesa HAKUTO-R history. Earlier releases included two models launched in 2021, a 2022 35th-anniversary limited model using recrystallized titanium, and the October 2023 AT8285-68Z, with a structural-color dial and a Super Titanium case and bracelet treated with Duratect DLC. Those releases are predecessors, not the three-model March 2024 Moon-inspired collection. Citizen’s 2021 announcement, 2022 announcement and 2023 announcement document those earlier models.

Which model fits which priority?
- Choose by function: CC4065-61Y is the GPS satellite-wave option; BY1008-67L and BY1009-64Y use radio control and add Direct Flight across 24 time differences.
- Choose by lunar display: CC4065-61Y uses a layered mother-of-pearl dial to evoke lunar patterning. The BY models show calculated lunar age on a moon-phase display and use ink to create dial color and relief.
- Choose by collection detail: The CC4065-61Y has recrystallized titanium bracelet center links; the BY models share their movement and display approach but differ in colorway and limited quantity.
For a Moon-themed Attesa HAKUTO-R watch, use the March 2024 model numbers to identify the right release. The November 2024 trio is a separate, deep-space-themed edition, and the original prices and limits do not establish what a watch costs or whether it can still be bought today.
