Citizen’s Caliber 0100 is a light-powered Eco-Drive movement with a stated accuracy of ±1 second per year. The current official lineup includes seven references, ranging from a 37.5 mm Super Titanium watch with an indigo washi dial to 39.0 mm steel models with different dial treatments. The accuracy and features below are Citizen’s specifications; the cited official pages do not provide independent comparative test results or current retail availability.
What Caliber 0100 is—and what ±1 second per year means
Caliber 0100 is an autonomous analogue quartz movement powered by light through Citizen’s Eco-Drive system. Citizen states an accuracy of ±1 second per year. In practical terms, that is the manufacturer’s stated maximum deviation over a year, not a promise that every watch will show precisely the same time under every condition. Citizen describes the movement as operating without radio time signals or GPS satellites, so its timekeeping does not depend on receiving an external synchronization signal.
Citizen frames the challenge around 31,536,000 seconds in a year and says its goal was to limit deviation to one second. That annual-seconds figure and the explanation of the engineering goal come from Citizen’s technology page, which does not state a publication year: Citizen’s Caliber 0100 technology explanation.
Citizen has used a dated superlative for the watch’s precision, not an undated claim of universal leadership. Its Caliber 0100 overview says it was the “most precise light-powered watch” for an autonomous analogue quartz watch as of February 2019; Citizen’s The CITIZEN pages state “As of May 2021” for an autonomous analogue light-powered watch. How Citizen says the movement achieves its accuracy
Citizen attributes Caliber 0100’s performance to an AT-cut crystal oscillator, refined movement components, and Eco-Drive light power. The company contrasts its AT-cut oscillator with the tuning-fork-shaped crystal oscillator it says is used in most quartz watches. Its account also describes refinement of the hands, gears, motor, and circuit before combining those elements with light-powered operation. This is Citizen’s explanation of its design; the cited material does not establish the performance through an independent head-to-head test. Official Caliber 0100 models compared
Citizen’s official Caliber 0100 lineup lists seven references. Case size is a useful starting point for fit: the 37.5 mm references are the smaller group, while AQ6101-02A and the two AQ6100-56 models measure 39.0 mm. Materials and dial treatments vary, so specifications should be checked by exact reference rather than assumed across the collection.

How to choose between the references
- Start with size: choose between 37.5 mm and 39.0 mm cases based on wrist fit and the presence you prefer. Case diameter alone does not establish lug-to-lug length or thickness, which should be checked on the exact product page if those dimensions matter.
- Choose materials for feel and appearance: the lineup includes Super Titanium, stainless steel, and an 18K white-gold limited edition. The AQ6110-10L pairs Super Titanium with a crocodile-leather band; the AQ6100-56 references use steel bracelets; and AQ6021-51E and AQ6020-53X use Super Titanium bracelets.
- Choose the dial treatment: options include indigo-dyed washi, washi with platinum-foil design, silver sunburst, a blue goldstone-inspired appearance, black, and mother-of-pearl. These are meaningful visual distinctions, not evidence that every dial uses the same materials or construction.
- Check the edition and exact specification: Citizen identifies AQ6010-06A, AQ6021-51E, and AQ6020-53X as limited editions. Confirm the case, crystal, band, water-resistance rating, and availability for the exact reference and market before buying.
Power reserve and water resistance
Citizen lists a running time of six months for the models shown, extending to eight months with the power-save function. Its detailed listings specify 5 ATM / WR 50 for the watches covered here. These are manufacturer specifications, and regional pages may present details differently; verify the exact reference rather than treating one model’s listing as a guarantee for every Caliber 0100 watch.
