The Citizen Crystron Diver most likely refers to a vintage quartz Crystron CQ diver commonly listed as reference 4-732308 or 4-732308TA. Third-party examples are described as 150 m watches and dated around 1980, but Citizen’s official archive does not confirm this diver’s specifications or movement. If you’re considering one, treat the reference, caliber and water resistance as details to verify on the individual watch.
What is the Citizen Crystron Diver?
“Citizen Crystron Diver” is a useful name for identifying a vintage Citizen quartz diver, but the available records do not establish it as one definitive official model name. A specialist retailer describes a Crystron 150m Diver as reference 4-732308TA, while other marketplace listings use Crystron CQ Diver and reference 4-732308. These are seller and retailer descriptions, not an official Citizen model record. Arbitro’s listing and a Reddit listing show examples of that naming.
Keep the identification separate from other watches that share the Crystron name. Citizen’s official archive entry for a 1974 quartz Crystron concerns a different model; it does not list the diver reference. Nor should the Crystron Diver be confused with the mechanical Challenge Diver or later Promaster watches. Citizen’s archive entry documents the 1974 watch, not this diver.
What do the reference and date tell you?
Third-party listings use reference 4-732308 and the variant 4-732308TA. One seller dates an example to April 1980, and the specialist retailer describes its example as a 1980 model. That supports calling examples circa 1980; it does not establish the full production period or an exact launch date. Check the case and dial markings on the watch itself rather than relying on a listing title.

Is it really a 150 m diver?
Third-party listings describe examples as 150 m watches, but the available sources do not establish that figure in an official Citizen specification for this reference. Treat “150m” as a reported vintage rating, not proof of either original certification or present-day water resistance.
Citizen Watch Europe says it “reserves the term diver’s watch for watches that conform to the ISO 6425 standard.” That is the brand’s general current definition; it does not certify this vintage model as ISO 6425 compliant. A surviving watch’s seals, case and service history can also affect its ability to resist water. Have a qualified watchmaker inspect and appropriately test the specific watch before using it in water. Citizen Watch Europe’s diver-watch guidance explains the brand’s general position.

Which movement does it use?
The listings conflict: a Reddit seller identifies caliber 7100, while Arbitro lists caliber 7548. Without authoritative documentation for the individual reference or inspection of the actual watch, neither claim establishes a definitive caliber for every Crystron Diver. Ask for clear movement photographs or have a watchmaker identify it before buying parts or arranging service.
Do not transfer specifications from Citizen’s archived 1974 Crystron to this diver. The archive gives that separate watch a step-motor quartz caliber 8600, stated accuracy of ±15 seconds per month and approximately one year of battery life. Those figures apply to the archived 1974 model, not to the Crystron Diver. Citizen’s 1974 archive record provides those details.

What to check before buying or servicing one
Because there is no confirmed canonical specification sheet for this reference in the available records, assess the actual watch rather than assuming that every listing describes an identical example.
- Identity: Compare the case and dial markings with the claimed reference, whether 4-732308 or 4-732308TA.
- Movement: Request an image or professional identification; listing claims of 7100 and 7548 disagree.
- Originality and condition: Ask about replaced parts, damage and prior work, and examine the watch in person or through detailed photographs where possible.
- Service and seals: Request any available service history and details of seal replacement.
- Water-resistance evidence: Ask whether the specific watch has recently passed an appropriate test; a printed or seller-reported depth rating is not a current test result.
- Transaction terms: Check the seller’s return policy and what happens if inspection reveals a mismatch or undisclosed fault.
If a seller describes a watch as a “Citizen Crystron CQ Diver 4-732308” or “Crystron 150m Diver,” treat those phrases as listing language that can help locate examples, not as a substitute for checking the watch.
