Its main complication for buyers today is availability: Citizen’s US product page labels the reference discontinued and sold out. The specifications are promising, but the available evidence is manufacturer documentation—not independent testing or a hands-on review—so whether it is worth pursuing depends on your fit preferences and the specific seller’s condition, return and warranty terms.
What the Citizen F100 CC2006-61E offers
Citizen’s official US listing identifies the black-dial Satellite Wave as reference CC2006-61E, fitted with the F100 Eco-Drive movement. The page describes satellite timekeeping and light-powered operation, and currently marks this reference “DISCONTINUED” and “Sold Out.” That describes Citizen’s US listing; it does not establish that every market or independent seller has no stock.
Here are the specifications and functions Citizen publishes for this reference:
- Case: 46 mm wide and 12.4 mm thick, in silver-tone Super Titanium.
- Bracelet and clasp: Super Titanium bracelet with a fold-over clasp and push buttons.
- Crystal and dial: anti-reflective sapphire crystal over a black dial. Citizen describes the crystal as impact- and shatter-resistant; that is a manufacturer claim, not an independently verified test result.
- Water resistance: WR100/10 bar/333 ft. Citizen lists the use category as “Swimming, Showering & Snorkeling”; this is its stated guidance, not an independent dive-watch assessment.
- Functions: satellite timekeeping, perpetual calendar, daylight-saving-time indicator, power-reserve indicator, light-level indicator, and day/date.
Citizen specifies synchronization across 40 time zones, listed as 27 cities, for the F100. The 40-zone figure is the model-specific listing; Citizen’s broader technology page says coverage varies by model, so general figures for the Satellite Wave family should not be substituted for it.

How satellite timekeeping works—and where it can fail
Citizen says Satellite Wave GPS watches receive position data and a time signal from GPS satellites, then use the position data to determine the local time zone. This gives the F100 a different role from a watch that only keeps time locally or relies on a manual time-zone change: the advertised system can update time-zone information as well as synchronize the time.
The system is dependent on reception conditions. Citizen says satellite reception requires open sky. Buildings, roofs and other obstructions can prevent or impede reception, so the watch’s satellite feature should not be treated as an instant indoor adjustment or guaranteed to work wherever you are.
The F100 product page lists “Satellite Receiving Time: 3 Seconds.” Citizen’s technology page presents three seconds as its fastest satellite-reception claim. Read this as a stated capability under suitable conditions, not a guaranteed acquisition time in every location or circumstance.

For accuracy, Citizen states that all its Satellite Wave GPS models tell time with a high level of accuracy of ±5 seconds per month. That is a general manufacturer statement about the family, not an F100-specific measurement or an independent test result.
Eco-Drive power: light-powered, but reserve is not established here
Citizen says the F100 is powered by any light source and eliminates the need to replace watch batteries. Its general Eco-Drive explanation describes converting natural or artificial light into energy stored in a power cell. In principle, that makes routine battery replacement unnecessary; the watch still needs sufficient light exposure to keep its stored energy replenished.
Citizen’s general Eco-Drive page says a fully powered Eco-Drive watch can run for over six months in darkness, and that some power-save models can last up to seven years. Those figures are not established for the F100 specifically, so they should not be used as this reference’s expected reserve. For its reserve, charging thresholds or power-save behavior, check the current F100 instructions or ask Citizen support.

Citizen also publishes the cumulative claim “100,000,000+ batteries saved from landfills” on its Eco-Drive page. That is Citizen’s own figure; the page does not provide an independent audit or a publication year for it.
Fit and everyday practicality
The documented 46 mm width and 12.4 mm thickness are the most useful starting points for deciding whether the F100’s proportions suit you. Compare them with a watch you already wear, but remember that case width alone does not describe how a watch sits on a wrist. Citizen’s product listing does not state lug-to-lug distance, weight or wrist-size guidance, and there is no firsthand comfort assessment available here. Try it on if possible, particularly if case dimensions are a deciding factor.

What to check before buying a discontinued F100
Because Citizen lists the CC2006-61E as discontinued and sold out on its US page, a buyer may encounter independent or pre-owned listings instead. That status does not establish current stock elsewhere, market scarcity, a fair price or seller reliability. No current third-party inventory or price has been verified.
Before committing, confirm the particulars of the individual listing:
- Reference: verify that it is CC2006-61E, not simply another Satellite Wave model.
- Condition and completeness: ask for clear photos and an accurate account of wear, operation, included links, box and paperwork.
- Returns: check the return window and any conditions or fees, especially if you need to try the watch on or verify functions.
- Warranty and service: establish in writing what warranty applies, who provides it and whether Citizen service is available for that particular purchase.
- Operation: use Citizen’s current setting instructions or support for button sequences, charging details and troubleshooting. Do not rely on a seller’s description alone for technical guidance.
These checks matter more than the discontinued label itself: the available evidence does not establish the terms, condition or reliability of any particular seller.

Verdict: who should consider the Citizen Satellite Wave F100?
The F100 is worth considering if you want GPS satellite timekeeping, light-powered operation and a Super Titanium case and bracelet, and its documented 46 mm by 12.4 mm dimensions work for you. Its listed time-zone coverage and three-second reception figure are attractive on paper, with the important qualification that reception requires open sky and the speed is not guaranteed in every setting.
It is a more cautious purchase if dependable indoor synchronization, confirmed long dark-running reserve, a particular fit, or straightforward new-from-Citizen availability is essential. The published material does not establish F100-specific reserve duration or independent performance, wear, water-resistance or durability results. For a discontinued example, buy only when the exact reference, condition, return rights and warranty terms are acceptable to you.
